Can someone redpill me on the French revolution?
Was it a good or a bad thing?
>>
>>128768135
It literally birthed the Left. Every ideology invented afterwards is Leftist.
>>
>people still don't know how to read a fucking sticky
sad!
>>
>>128768255
This, yes.

Ayn Rand came after though.

She used to be heavily shilled here, idk what happened. Just a step away from Ted Kandinsky on the left-right ideology scale.
>>
>>128768135
It was the beginning of the end of Europe.
>>
>>128768255
It was originally all about libertarianism : right to free speech, right to own guns and use them in self defense, right to property... All those things that were illegal for 99,9% of people under the monarchy. All the laws written at the time were intented to limit the power of the government and its minions (police, etc).
How did it end up this way? Because leftists weren't systematically eliminated while we had the chance. Unfortunately, when you're giving rights to everyone, you are also giving rights to people who are going to use those rights to attain power, then remove those rights from everyone else. And that's the limits of democracy. Does that mean a dictatorship is the solution? Many seem to think so nowadays, but only if the dictator's ideology fit theirs.
I'm still a libertarian, as I believe it is not only the ultimate redpill but also the only way for humans to live as real human beings, something more than someone else's slave. Obviously we are going to need a thorough genocide of the political class, public servants, media, leftist voters, etc. and all over the world, in order to achieve that goal.

> Be French
> Be Poor as shit
> Be Pissed because you are not free
> Start Revolution
> Forget to have unifying ideology
> Decide not to attempt any legal / political reform
> Go immediately to bloody violence
> Kill Politicians
> Leave country in dangerous turmoil
> Forget to stop killing. Kill leaders of Revolution.
> Forget to stop killing. Kill leaders of Revolution that stepped up after previous leader killed.
> Forget to stop killing. Kill leaders of Revolution that stepped up after previous leader killed.
> Attempt Socialism
> Fail
> Dictator comes to power and destroys Europe, as well as home country.

Everyone is poor and dead, and no one is more free.

They killed their king and soon their country won't be white. You tell me if it was a success
>>
Basically led to decades of violence and then a dictatorship. Failure.

Literally the worst thing to ever happen to the West. Gave birth to the modern (((left))) and paved the way for all the degeneracy today.

Nonsense. The French Revolution was founded on the ideas of classical liberalism, which led to progressive SJW clusterfucking.

French Revolution in nutshell:
>some retard the 13th or so becomes king
>not very responsible so retard retreats to collecting keys whie he leaves the country to run itself
>currently a food shortage amongst the poor, many libtard professors preaching rebelion n'shit
>mary twinktwoinette: "let them eat fag-buns"
>people go full ape
>its like a nigger zoo but with whites instead of niggers acting like niggers
>people keep throwing a shit-fit, storm a barracks, take some guns, and then fight against an invading army of faggots
>eventually the commmies win and start beheding people
>beheding doesn;t stop for a while, beheadings at least twice a week.
>the n33t commies that survive behed-mageddon start philosophising like the retards that they are
>modern france: land of the retarded communist faggots.

>>128768135
Good thing since the social situation before 1789 was terrible : mass starving, lack of money due to multiple wars and because the noblety didn't pay taxes, no freedom of speech, etc... It was necessary to change the political system.

Bad thing because it completely fucked up after the execution of the king. Also, this king was a retard, instead of following the people's will, he tried to bash'em and then tried to run off the country. He could save the monarchy if he wasn't that dumb.

The French revolution led to countless other ones in the long run and set an example of a society based on merit rather than bloodlines, freed from obscurantists and censors.
The backlash against religion and the aristocracy was not the end of a traditional way of life nor a plan to replace one religion with another, one people with another.

It was the tumultuous birth of a true nation.

>>128768135
Basically its the definition of bad

>noblety didn't pay taxes
Yeah, Americans never really understand this thing.

French King had to rely on his administration and a kind of assembly(not popular one) to put taxes on nobility and the church. I think it was called constable assembly or something like this. Several ministers in quick successions tried to do it as part of their financial reform to get rid of the denbts and failed. Reason - the assembly was composed entirely of nobility and clergy.

As such the tax system was antithesis to progressive tax system - the rich paid literally nothing, the poor paid... not much but current standards, but the burden of massive denbts French took during earlier part of the century rested on their shoulders.

Same shit happened in Poland btw. King wants to go to war(defensive or offensive, doesn't matter), wants to raise war taxes to get some serious army going and is left with odd 10-20 thousands soldiers all paid out of his own pocket because nobility says "nope" in parliament. As obvious as it is, it led to multiple wars dragging out for a very long time and some other nation joining in. For example - when Swedes started so called Deluge, the Crown's own troops were fighting Cossack uprising, meanwhile Lithuania was attacked by Muscovy. Then Swedes joined in and quite large part of our nobility sensed profit and joined their side. NONE of them was hanged for treason afterwards, some(prostestants, calvinists and arians) had their properties confiscated.

When your elites will rather see your country burn if it means losing parts of their profits, you'll start dreaming about revolution too.

Yeah, the ever more degenerate march of Liberalism was totally worth it.

Exclusively negative with no positive aspects whatsoever

>Peasants and nobles alike were required to pay one-tenth of their income or produce to the church (the tithe). Peasants paid a land tax to the state (the taille),[29] a 5% property tax (the vingtième). All paid a tax on the number of people in the family (capitation), depending on the status of the taxpayer (from poor to prince). Further royal and seigneurial obligations might be paid in several ways: in labor (the corvée), in kind, or, rarely, in coin. Peasants were also obligated to their landlords for: rent in cash (the cens), a payment related to their amount of annual production (the champart), and taxes on the use of the nobles' mills, wine-presses, and bakeries (the banalités). In good times, the taxes were burdensome; in harsh times, they were devastating. After a less-than-fulsome harvest, people would starve to death during the winter.

Yeah, life was awesome during old order, it must've been Jewish plot or something.
>>
>Tax collection was farmed out (privatized) to "fermiers", through a system of public bidding.[30] Public officials bought their positions from the king, sometimes on an annual basis, sometimes in perpetuity. Often an additional tax, called "paulette" was paid by the holders of an office to upgrade their position to one that could be passed along as an inheritance. Naturally, holders of these offices tried to reimburse themselves by milking taxpayers as hard as possible. For instance, in a civil lawsuit, judges required that both parties pay for the costs of the trial (called the épices, the spices);[31] this, effectively, put justice out of the reach of all but the wealthy.

>The system also exempted the nobles and the clergy from taxes (with the exception of a modest quit-rent, an ad valorem tax on land). The tax burden, therefore, devolved to the peasants, wage-earners, and the professional and business classes, also known as the third estate. Further, people from less-privileged walks of life were blocked from acquiring even petty positions of power in the regime. This caused further resentment.

First, that's absolute fucking bullshit you pulled out of your illiterate ass, and second, you do realize people were a lot poorer back then on average and that today even a shitty state provides something for your taxes?
And you do realize that by 1789 like half of France was on the verge of starvation?

Read 'Reflections on the Revolutions in France' by Edmund Burke and you will receive your answer.

The French Revolution is also about the birth of the idea of nation, and of natinalism.
>>128769359
Bullshit. The French Revolution wasn't inspired by Locke or other classical liberals, but by Rousseau. Rousseau = idea of sovereignty = idea of common will = nation = modern ideologies.
The French Rev is nothing about libertarianism, but all about totalitarism, contrary to the Burgerland Independance War and Secession wars for example

Those problems were largely solved by tech advances, not changes in regulations.

>>128775739
The concept of nation state is essentially a Leftist attack on tribalism and private monopoly on force. So it's literally as Left as it can get.
>>
>>128775991
>cherry-picking one region
Great argument.
And on top of those taxes and tax system, those peasants and citizens got almost nothing in return, while nobility and church who didn't pay shit lived in opulence.
Go look up budget of French state in late 18th century and now, and tell me what you see.
Yours and arguments of other idiots here are dumb as fuck.
If you wanna be a serf go join some cult and live out your fantasy. But no, you probably believe you would be a noble or something. Ridiculous.
>>128776101
These problems aren't solved by tech advances. A feudal system isn't conductive to tech advances anyway, so I still have no idea what's your point.
>>

(((bourgeoisie taking power)))

That's all you need to know
>>
>>128778228
Yeah, French nobility in late 18th century were totally hardcore warriors. What the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>128777619
How is it any less conductive than anything else? Why are you assuming the feudal system was present all the way until the FR? Why are you asserting that hard peasant labor wasn't alleviated by industrialization and urbanization as opposed to muh freedumb and muh equality?
>>
>>128779602
And why are you asserting that a corrupt inefficient system I described in previous posts was somehow good or God-given?
If nobility were so elite and superior, why the fuck did their heads roll?

Same result as the (((Communist Revolution))).

We can learn a lot of the french revolution:

In the moment our leftist have to learn, that the strong believe in having the "higher morals" and the by this the right to oppres other oppinions (example: the german minster of justice) will lead themselfes at least to the guillotine.

Read about Robespierre.
>>
>>128780430
I fail to see the connection. All your posts do is describe the state of things at a certain point in time. It could be absolutely anything other than the system, yet that doesn't fit your argument.

Also who said they were superior?
