It's just not the same as boot camp. They don't break you like they do in boot camp. I honestly don't feel like Marine Officers really have the same warrior ethos and camaraderie that enlisted have. Most of the cowards I have met in the Marine Corps have been officers.

Don't overdo it with the running, the problem with running is that your cardio gets better faster than your musculoskeletal system can keep up. Then you end up hurting yourself, getting stress fractures or something like that. That can really fuck your life up when you miss an OCS class because of it. There's good guides for running all over, maybe this is already old news to you.

The key is to have a bifurcated running plan. You need your endurance days and your speed days. On endurance days you run for time or distance, but not both. Basically, you're running with no goal, at a comfortable pace. You shouldn't be out of breath and throwing up on these days.

On speed days you're gonna do several 400m sprints, shit like that. The end goal of this whole thing is to have that comfortable pace get faster and faster.

It sounds weird but this will get you a better run time for a 3 mile than just running 3 miles as fast as you can over and over.
