I work as a software engineer at a big software company, and everyone on my team has PhDs, however they lack leadership qualities and we won't see them quickly gaining salary increases or promotions.

Yes they have nice salaries but a big salary is not a wealth generator. Acquiring wealth from nothing requires a lot of luck, I'm making 150k at 24 and it still feels like I'm financially unstable.
