In terms of the "soulless" Asian musician meme, I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but I see it as indicative of the collapse of classical music standards worldwide since the 60s, most Westerners also play pretty soullessly because of HIP or even worse, effeminately low key. So while I can't really say there's many Asians that are truly top level (I think Li Yundi is pretty much the closest yet), I also can barely say that about anyone else in relation to the recorded masters.

classical music is an acquired taste. as such it is very specific and does not leave many shitposting parameters. but i wouldn't say that lack of participation is a lack of caring, it's a lack of how to contribute in a fruitful manner that is more the case.
