The Islamic world was always wanted to conquer the earth, Europe being considered the greatest prize.

In recent history the Islamic world was in a state of demoralization due to falling so far behind scientifically, Turkey was even given the nickname 'the sick man of Europe'.

The west rather than letting the Arab world die off propped them up to take down the Ottoman empire, which in my opinion was a mistake. This lead to the discovery of oil and the financial rallying of the Muslim world bringing back the desires of world domination.
