He's a traitor in the literal sense because he betrayed the government, he's also a patriot and hero because he betrayed a corrupt government which has vastly overstepped it's bounds.

I think the good outweighs the bad by a substantial margin and he should absolutely be pardoned, the people he exposed should be jailed or executed for treason themselves.
