My take on all of this was that Theresa May aka "Dress Up" or "The Poundland Maggie Thatcher" is little more than an opportunist. She saw the polls were massively in her favour, that her opponent Jeremy Corbyn was a terrorist supporting left-wing lunatic and that if there was ever a good time to go to the polls, this was it.

One of the biggest problems I have with some monarchists is that some argue that our whole national heritage, tradition and culture is based on that one institution. Maybe some people may believe that but I don't and I find it an insult on British culture. I also believe the royal family (or members of it) have been at times embarrassment of the nation, especially Charles and Harry.
Honestly, I am neutral on the monarchy. If we don't have some weird shit like a black king or something, I am fine with it. Not intentionally. Theresa May will probably end up having to negotiate a much softer BRExit than most Tories want, but it will never get ratified by the EU who are on an ALL OR NOTHING roll.

If they get the landslide majority they were predicted when they first called the election there wouldn't be much stopping them, and May has been dead set on trying to censor the net in all her time as Home Sec.
