Why did the Japanese decide to make their language so silly sounding as well as complicated as hell?
In Japan you have people taking Japanese courses well into college so that they can learn new symbols and words
Like how are you so fucking STUPID that the idea of an alphabet flies over your head up until after you've made like 6 million different symbols you can use to make words
Newsflash, Japan, it shouldn't take more than 30 letters to be able to make any normal sound so going over that is fuggin dumb
Also, Korea... you were smart, you did make a normal alphabet. But then why the fuck is it JUST as hard to learn as Japanese for nonspeakers?
>>
Why do you care? If you're too brainlet to learn other languages at least you speak English. Any ESL could start bitching about the illogical and retarded orthography and pronunciation in English, but instead they put their heads down and just study.
>>
Don't the japanese write in sylabes?
Is this bait?

Learn Hiragana and Katakana and you can sound out a lot of shit anyway. Learn the other useful symbols and then you can do most shit. Stop complaining.

Get the two japanese language games on steam if you are struggling.

The Kanji aren't that bad if you're being constantly exposed to them. They're also not straight up pictographs, they're a combination of a smaller subset of symbols.

Also, how difficult a language is to learn has a lot to do with how similar it is to languages you already know. If you're a native English speaker, learning German is relatively easy because it's also a western language. If you learned Japanese, Korean would then be easier to learn after that.

If you want to learn Japanese, try total immersion. Consider yourself a baby learning for the first time, and don't have any high expectation for yourself until you've been exposed to the language for the same amount of time(measured in hours) that a Japanese child has.

There are kana and kanji. Kana are more or less phonetic alphabets. Kanji are mostly Chinese-derived ideographic symbols.

so many people in the world and on 4chan especially are "learning" japanese
I've never met anyone who actually speaks it fluently
>>
It's more retarded then that, they have two phonetic sets of symbols and use the pictograms anyhow

Japan uses the Chinese logographic script (Kanji) because Japanese is not like say English.

In English you can group consonants and vowels together in many ways in syllables. Like the syllable "stuff." Four sounds together. Three consonants. One vowel. That is much information that makes the syllable very unquie and identifiable.

In Japanese every syllable is always consonant-vowel, consonant-vowel. (Exceptions, but mostly.) You aren't cramming five or six phonemes into a syllable. You just get two. The result is a very pleasing, aesthetically balanced sound.

However this makes words very long in terms of total phonemes. Also there are far, far fewer possible syllables. English has hundred of thousands of different syllables. Japanese has a few dozen.

So an alphabet, while suitable of English, would be useless for Japanese. Japanese isn't broken down that much. You need a syllabary, not at alphabet. One character for each syllable.

And so you have Hiragana and Katakana, our syllabaries.

But Japanese words are still very long. To write them all in the syllabaries would take very long, and the text length would very unwieldy. Imagine in every novel you packed around was the size of War and Peace. No thank you.

And so we use Kanji. It is much faster to read and write and takes up much less room. Have you ever seen a Japanese novel? Very thin, very light, very efficient. Unfortunately it takes very long to learn kanji but the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.

We combine kanji for the word with hiragana for things like grammar suffixes and katakana for foreign words and sound effects. You get the best of both worlds in a very tight package.

Also we don't have to appeal to the lowest common denominator as much. Our writing system is made for intelligent people not for stupid people. Asia has far fewer retards and niggers.

If anything the Indo-European languages would benefit immensely from adopting a logographic writing system.

I don't know Japanese from dirty knees, but I know that it's an ornate language closely interwoven with Japanese culture, which is itself an ornate culture.

Burgers say "retarded" when they lack the self-awareness or sympathy with the concerns of others to understand something quite simple.
>>128207472
English orthography was actually developed to stratify society. Only people with years of days of hours to devote to it would get it right. One's spelling level corresponded closely to one's social class.

Chinese characters also make it so the reader doesn't need to speak the same language as the writer to understand the messages. Not so true for Japan since we use symbols differently and mix in kana but in China they speak four different dialects that are actually four different languages that cannot understand each other when spoken but they can write letters to each other and all read the same newspapers filled with filthy Chinese lies. It seems strange to your stupid gaijin mind but Chinese characters make sense to fit their situation and is what allowed them to run their empire. If you want a writing system that does away with all that logographic stuff and actually captures the sound of the language far better than English writing system which honestly has very little to do with how spoken English sounds then I recommend learning Korean but you will sound like a dog.

I learned Japanese to read porn. Studied the old-fashioned way to learn kana, and then jumped into reading to pick up kanji. Two years later, I can read actual novels with minimal difficulty. it really isn't that hard if you have a half-decent memory.

yes its actually easy for the chinese and japanese to be able to communicate simple things. my parents went to japan before and wrote chinese which the japs would understand and help them out.

Japanese used to be impossible to input into computers properly but that was like in the 1970s and early 1980s. There are perfect software solutions now. I don't know about programming.
