My parents raised me to believe that hard work pays off and if you want something, you work for and you earn it. You don't just spend money via (((credit cards))).

My parents were teachers, maybe that had something to do with it because they had to deal with shitty kids at work, so they disciplined me accordingly so I didn't end up like the little shits they had to teach.

Even though I am part of the millennial generation, I do not feel like I'm a part of it. Since about age 16, I began to identify with people older than me.

I honestly don't blame millennials for being such shitty people. I blame their parents and the school system.

Nowadays, parents generally do not raise their kids and that falls on the school system. It shouldn't, but it does. Parents are caught up in work and doing other self-serving activities, so they just buy their kid whatever they want in order to get them to shut up. Then they "ground" them as punishment and send them to their room that has a computer, television, smart phone, etc. That's not punishment. My parents not only spanked / whipped me, but when I got grounded, it usually meant that I would be helping my father do whatever he wanted and not just that I would have free time in my fully furnished room.

tl;dr: It's not the kids' fault. It's shitty parenting and shitty school systems.

I work for Amazon Fulfillment and I get paid a decent wage, but they also expect me to give them all of my time in 40-60 hour work weeks. If I do decide to go to school again I'll have to go to HR and work out with them how my schedule will be altered to accommodate class times. And this company is more lenient than most.

So all I'm saying is that I can understand how people would feel dissatisfied with a decent-paying job if it feels like a dead end and limits their potential to increase their income. I would rather work a part time minimum wage job and go to school for something more lucrative than to work a decent wage construction job or something like that.
It just comes down to putting out the effort. If it takes the same amount of effort to do both things, a rational person will pick the more rewarding choice. He would be happy if a construction job fell in his lap, but if it takes a similar amount of effort to something more promising he will pass it up.

23 year old here. I am nothing like my so-called generation.

My parents raised me to believe that hard work pays off and if you want something, you work for and you earn it. You don't just spend money via (((credit cards))).

My parents were teachers, maybe that had something to do with it because they had to deal with shitty kids at work, so they disciplined me accordingly so I didn't end up like the little shits they had to teach.

Even though I am part of the millennial generation, I do not feel like I'm a part of it. Since about age 16, I began to identify with people older than me.

I honestly don't blame millennials for being such shitty people. I blame their parents and the school system.

Nowadays, parents generally do not raise their kids and that falls on the school system. It shouldn't, but it does. Parents are caught up in work and doing other self-serving activities, so they just buy their kid whatever they want in order to get them to shut up. Then they "ground" them as punishment and send them to their room that has a computer, television, smart phone, etc. That's not punishment. My parents not only spanked / whipped me, but when I got grounded, it usually meant that I would be helping my father do whatever he wanted and not just that I would have free time in my fully furnished room.

tl;dr: It's not the kids' fault. It's shitty parenting and shitty school systems.
