How do we know we aren't entrenched in propaganda in every walk of life just like North Korea?

I can't get Patrick J Buchanan's 'Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War' out of my mind even months after reading it.

The bold faced lies I was taught growing up in every grade, in every world history and U.S. History class, about World War II has astounded me.

I want to go back to not knowing or caring.
