like a guy said before, watch some shows in english with subs and you're done. You won't be perfectly bilingual but will know enough to travel. I recommend good show while you're at it, House of Cards just dropped a new season, go for it, and go for some movies other than marvel's simplistic dialogues. First, put subs in your language, then switch to English subs. Force yourself. Hell, everything is in english now, from music to television to guides about random stuff on the internet.

Nip on the other hand is tough and fuck any dialect spoken east of Germany

If you judge a language by how easy it is to learn, Bahasa Indonesia/Bahasa Melayu and Kiswahili would surely be the easiest national/international languages.

Vietnamese is pretty easy too, but you have to get used to the tones, which is a bit of a leap at first.

I've never studied Japanese, but I've heard that it's easy to speak, but pretty much impossible to read and write due to the multiple writing systems (kanji, katakana, etc)

English grammar is super easy because or prepositions, postpositions and easy plurals (save for some rare words like cacti). but the pronunciation is where most foreigners trip up. It's a case of "you just gotta know how to pronounce it, can't tell from text" in many cases because English is a mishmash of many ancient languages.

Finnish is a nightmare because there are no prepositions and postpositions. You have to alter the root word if you want to say "on a table" instead of "table" for example and the way you alter one word does not always apply to other words.
