I don't get how it's so crazy. I want to pay for my health problems, not other peoples'. And I don't want to force others to pay for mine. The thing is, a doctor isn't just a doctor. There are shit doctors and good doctors and it's the difference between life and death even for more mundane things than you may think. I doubt the government will give me much choice with "universal" healthcare. Also, I want to spend my money on a good doctor. That's why I worked for it. If someone else doesn't have money, nobody is going to argue that they should be given the safest car. Nobody is saying we need universal shoes. Bad shoes fuck up your feet. You missed the whole point of my post. I never said that I want kids to get kicked out while dying. I said I don't want to pay for other people's health problems. And, as highlighted by the shoes analogy, I'm willing to give them some cheap shoes, but I'm not giving the 500 dollar shoes. The problem with "Universal healthcare" is that it doesn't do that. It's a clusterfuck that raises prices for everyone. Anyone who has had to deal with insurance companies will understand why the government isn't smart enough to get involved.

tl;dr: idgaf if there are soup kitches for health. What I do care about is that the government is restricting my own healthcare in an attempt to make me pay for other people's non-basic healthcare.
