that's an incredibly old picture, and fast food etc isn't as cheap as people claim. Every time people claim that they can't back it up.
Rice and beans are less than one dollar a pound. A cup of rice is an absurd amount of food. Here its maybe 25 cents. Better rice like brown only a touch more, is it dull? Sure but that's not what we are talking about, you have claimed unhealthy food is cheaper and it's not.

The US subsidized corn to end hunger in America and it backfired via corn syrup. Foods high in salt, transfats, and corn syrup all have very long shelf lives.

The nutritional value of an apple is little more that fructose and fiber 3 months after being picked, and it needs to be in cold storage that entire time. Actually most apples you purchase at the grocery store were picked more than 10 months ago.

>Congratulations you've bought a week's worth of healthy food for 40 dollars

Taco Bell $1x3x7= 24 dollars.

It would also only be about 1400 calories for the day, with all the hot sauce you want. Which is low enough for any grown ass adult to lose weight.

"Da poh" are eating too fucking much, plain and simple. It has nothing to do with the cost of food, though yes-- shit fast food is indeed cheaper than anything you can buy in the store. You can't even re-create the McDick menu at home for less than what you can buy it due to their extreme discounts on buying the raw ingredients in massive bulk.

It's cheaper to get a burger at McDick. Not better, not tasty, but cheaper. Same with just about everything else the Fast Food Jew sells us. But that still isn't an excuse to be fat.
>>
>>127775973
How are you defining junk food and healthy food?
>>
>>127780154
>shit fast food is indeed cheaper than anything you can buy in the store.

That simply is not true.

Fat people pay more to eat crappier garbage. They are not only lazy, but also stupid.
>>
>>127775973

Healthy food is fucking cheap though? Unless you're buying that retarded hipster shit anyway.

I can buy everything I need to make a salad for what is about $8 and depending on how big I want the salads it'll make anywhere from 4-8 meals.

People will tell you to buy rice and beans and shit, and sure this is cheap, but it's not balanced at all and it gets really fucking boring really fucking fast.

I like that Gluttony is getting roundly hated on, but it's only one of the 7 deadly sins. It's easy to hate them because their sin is the most visibly obvious, but when you see a thin person you know their sins are equally deadly and hidden - which is worse.

Eh, I can buy the stuff I need to make 4 quarter pounders for cheaper than it is to go to McDonalds and buy 4 quarter pounders.

The initial investment is more because you can't just buy the ingredients for a single burger, but the price per burger is cheaper.
I can get 4 burgers, 4 buns, lettuce (that'll last like 20 burgers), enough cheese for 8 burgers, tomato sauce for like 200 fucking burgers and bacon for 8 burgers and it'll break about even with the price of 4 McDonalds quarter pounders. But if I get 4 more burgers and buns I'll have 8 burgers for the price of like 6 from McDonalds.

To lose weight, one should consider intermittent (16 hours) or alternate day water fasting, where only water is consumed. There are medical eating schedules that one can consult their doctor with, or if you're too poor to have one, look up your tdee (which can be found in the /fit/ sticky) and eat 500 calories (or more if you're not hypoglycemic). Fresh fruits, veggies, and plants can be attained very cheaply at the end of farmer's markets. Good luck and cut your carbs.

Ethnic markets. Fifty lbs bags of rice are one of the fastest moving items at most Asian grocery stores. Hispanic stores also sell masa for next to nothing.
>>
>>127783738
Stupid meme. Even healthy food has been deprived of nutrients because of (((progress))). Chickens sitting in the dark eating grain produce eggs that have about 5-10% of the nutrients in real farm eggs. And genetically modified tomatoes are designed to grow fast and look good, but have a similarly low amount of nutrients.

And if you don't get the nutrients you are left hungry. As a simple test go buy some high quality cheese and compare it to the mass produced stuff. You'll more than likely be satisfied with a slice or two of the good stuff, because it tastes better with all the nutritional value that wasn't sucked out by mass production.

So not only do nutrients contribute to energy and feeling full, they add taste which leads to satisfaction.
>>
>>127775973
Healthy food is cheaper than junk food.

You can get lentils, beans, rice, vegetables, butter, milk and other assorted nutritious food for dirt cheap.

It's just that that stuff is boring to eat every day. Most people don't have the discipline when they've been spoiled by junk food or higher dining.

Healthy, interesting, delicious food that can compete with junk food on an 'enjoyment' level is expensive.

Any ethnic place or grocery store that isn't Walmart.

I pay about $9 for a 20 lb bag of rice, and even that is a bit high compared to what Asians pay for their 50 lb bags of rice (usually around $20- 25 at their chink marts that only speak Chinese).

Go for brown rice if you can despite it being a bit more expensive - loads of fiber, more nutrients, slightly less calories, and lower glycemic index so it doesn't spike your insulin as much.

Brown rice is horrible for you. The oils in the husk (the brown part) go rancid very quickly and are carcinogenic. The husk also has phytates which bind up nutrients and are really horrible for you if eaten in a constant fashion.
There is a reason that all rice eating cultures only fuck with white rice. One time in the 70's or 80's there was some fad diet called the Macrobiotic diet in which a bunch of people got conned into believing that brown rice was some miracle food - it was all they eat. They all ended up with bone problems and cavities and some even got cancer. Very terrible shit for you - brown rice.

His original point still stands - you can buy healthy food that will last for days for dirt cheap IF you're willing to not be a lazy ass and cook something.

The myth that junk food is cheap and thus what poor people are left with to eat is nonsense.

Because the government subsidies corn / fructose production in the Midwest to try to shore up conservative votes. Americans are made fat by political interests that are trying to buy conservative votes by making farmers thing the politicians are taking care of them when actually they are killing them through diabetes and obesity.

healthy food is actually the cheapest of all foods

GOOD healthy good is the most expensive

if you idiots actually knew what healthy food was..
parboiled rice and dry black beans are dirt cheap.
you can also get an unbelievable amount of tomato for such a low price but i dont want to spoil this source.
eggs are cheap too.

the most expensive source of food is fat from plants, such as avocado and avocado oil,
but i know where to get this shit cheap too, my nigga

meat is also expensive, but eating meat is for cucks.
meat is actually junk food,
on a molecular level, its low quality garbage which only tastes good

There's this thing called CSA and it's everywhere now days. You pay an up front price at the beginning of the season/year and then get weekly or biweekly shares of food. It saves you tons of money in the long run, and you're getting food from some local places with sustainable practices.

I work for an organic vegetable farm that is as crunchy hippie as you can get and whose customer base is a bunch of rich white people, and our produce isn't even that expensive. I mean I still eat whatever the fuck I want because I'm young enough not to care and on the regular just need tons of calories to sustain me, so it honestly gets to me when people complain about food being too expensive for why someone is fat. If you actually expended calories like you're supposed to when you're obtaining your food, you wouldn't have this problem. I regularly have to make sure I'm getting enough calories. Get good fatties.

The worst things about mcdonalds are fries and soda.

The burgers are genuinely not that bad for you.

Beef <- yes, it's some kind of processed beef, but it's still just fat, protein, salt.
Cheese <- 1 or 2 slices
Bun <- Actually the proper ratio of carbs, and probably about the serving you should have per day
Toppings <- nominal dietary input all around

One burger is like half your daily calorie needs, and is mostly from fat/protein.

It's basically like having a sandwich.

It's everything that isn't a burger that's bad for you.

It's not junk food that's causing people to get fat, it's that advertisers have made it so people don't know the size of a portion anymore

Saw a kid's meal at a fast food place the other day that looked easily big enough for me, and I'm an active guy

The Government should make it so businesses can only sell a meal that has a certain number of calories. They should also tax the fuck out of food that only gives you more of an appetite, like fucking Pringles. And they should make it child abuse if your child is overweight.

Pic related, this was a 10,000 calorie sundae in the 1950s, it's be a small ice cream today

>Junk Food is healthy, i meant to caption

>>
>>127775973

Junk food is cheap PER CALORIE. Healthy food is actually inexpensive here in the United States in and of itself, but to match the ~4k calories most of us fat burgers are ingesting requires buying 80 bazillion tons of food every week, which very quickly adds up.

Also, healthy foods tend to not have preservatives in them, the things that stop our Twinkies from rotting so you can find a box of them a month past the expiration date and still eat them like nothing's wrong. Another thing is that healthy food -generally- needs preparation of some sort; even something as simple as washing grapes or peeling an apple is enough to piss off the typical Amerilard.

People go out and buy the healthy food because Oprah/Rachael Ray/(((they))) said so, turn their noses up at it due to their brains not registering the lack of a calorie 'hit' or having to do any more than peel off a wrapper and pop it in their mouths, the food rots, they have to go buy more, and then they bitch about how expensive it is.

You can lose weight no matter what you're eating; it's calories and activity levels. That's it. There's people that have lost weight eating nothing but McDonalds, and people who've gained weight while eating mostly healthy foods like nuts and fish (by simply eating a FUCKTON of nuts and fish, or being an Amerilard and spreading peanut butter over a flank of fatty salmon and frying it in peanut oil. etc.).

Junk food is actually expensive. Costs like $8-10 for a meal at a fast food restaurant. Meanwhile a can of soup costs $2-2.50, vegetables and some fruit are basically free (bananas anyone?).

This whole meme you are spewing is exactly just that, a fucking MEME. Its used by the jews to pressure the government in creating more GIBS programs for the poor.

choose 3

High quality microwave meal - healthy, 5min in microwave, tastes good - expensive

Local chippy - cheap, instant, tastes good - poor healthwise

Steamed veg + fresh roast meat - cheap, tastes great, healthy - takes time to sort out (including washing up)

Raw veg - cheap, healthy, instant - tastes shit

Yes, this! I'm poor but I eat well and I eat cheap. Don't waste your money on a restaurant. But fruit and vegetables that are currently cheap (which ones depends on the time of year). Stock up on meat when it goes on sale. (At the store today, pork loin was $1.26USD/lb and ground beef was $2.23USD/lb.) Potatoes and onions are always cheap. I get so much variety and it tastes great.

Not just the subsidies but also the quantity of materials.

Buying a weeks worth of vegetables is more expensive but lowers the cost per unit as in meals. Poor people eat unhealthy and ultimately more expensive food since it seems cheaper than the healthier alternatives.

Jeesus Christ. If they were good at math they wouldn't be poor in the first place.

When I was on the benefits I was eating more than I needed and even had extra money to spend on alcohol and save for future investments. Most poor people aren't capable of achieving this since they aren't good at crunching the numbers. Most people don't go to grocery shopping with a calculator.

Eating well and cheap is so fucking easy. All you need to know is how to cook.
Buying fastfood every day is actually EXTREMELY cost inefficient compared to healthier foods.

The amount of meals you can make vs price is significantly lower.

I could buy lots of Potatoes, Eggs, Rice, Greens, Beans etc
Sales, which happen constantly at Grocery stores, make it even better.

Eating only 2 meals a day at a Fast Food outlet will easily run you 12-16 dollars each day.

I don't know about your country but here in the UK a small Mcdonalds meal costs about $10, you'd have to eat about 6 of these a day to put on weight, so that's $60 times 7 which makes $420 per week, you could eat healthy food for about 3 months for that amount of money, junk food costs a LOT more, only rich people can afford to get fat here, if you see a fat person here you can assume they have lots of cash, so we don't have to concern ourselves with the notion that they might be impoverished, this is a 100% non satirical post btw, I couldn't be more serious, the idea that junk food is cheap is a fucking meme spread by fat rich cunts claiming victimhood.
