The biggest threat to astronauts while traveling in space is the radiation exposure. If NASA can find a way to minimize that exposure without the need for an extremely heavy lead coated space shuttle then they'll be that much closer to a Mars mission.

Learn some shit before you complain about muh tax dollars. Especially when NASA gets so little already. I'd cut all of the arts budget and fund NASA more.

The sun would incinerate the entire ship before it even reaches the surface. It happens all the time with other objects in space. We could probably fire all our nuclear waste and it wouldn't make a single difference to us. The sun is fucking huge.

Solar panels are inefficient and only work on sunny days. We have both and we should keep using oil until solar tech becomes good enough to warrent replacing. Also because of the prime usage issue, moving to solar requires that we have batteries for storage. Those batteries are made of shit that's even worse on the environment to mine than oil.

tl;dr no matter what some shit is gonna get fucked and environmentalist will never be happy.

You guys are tony brained pieces of shit who i would bet watch all the mark dice videos as they release.

The technology needed to withstand the temp, radiation, pressure will need to developed furtyer and worked on. If you cant understand how such technology could be integrated in industrial jobs and else where, then there is no hope for your tiny brains.

Some of the worlds greatest minds cresting technology to do the impossible and you are too stupid, too short sighted, too partisan to underetand how these things cross over into society.

Amd when your fat stupid ass buys the new Reddit approved, iPhone 13 for $9000, it'll constructed with some new fused material thats ultra lightweight. Sratch resistant against metal. Truly air tight water resistant. Fire resistant, heat resistant crack resistant.

It wont click in your tiny brains that the technology was built through "stupid" billion dollar missions to the sun.

And who knows how our armies implements nasa created technology. Spacex is already filled with nasa employees btw.

I wont even go into how a trip to the fucking sun translates in terms of knowledge and know how for FUTURE manned spsce travel against the cosmos harsh conditions.

I wont even get into what we may learn from the sun tuat we didn't know, that could potentially warn us of some danger.

Not to mention all the theories science has about the sun that can be confirmed\busted with a single trip.

The issue is that your pea sized brains arent equipped for this level of inquiry. Stick to your animes and blacked posting retards

>>
>>127715830
Nothing fucking stopped, we have sent out countless probes and satellites and even a few rovers.
What the fuck was supposed to happen?
Moon landings happened and after the 2nd one public interest dropped extremely hard. It also fulfilled it's goal of showing superiority over the Russians. Apart from that you gain nothing from landing on the moon.
Space shuttles were a futuristic, badly engineered pipe dream, nobody really needs them.
Setting foot on Mars is 10 times harder than the moon landing, so it will take some time.

http://www.space.com/16871-how-big-is-mars.html

"Gravity on Mars is 38 percent of Earth's gravity, so a 100-pound person on Earth would weigh 38 pounds on Mars. Mars is home to both the highest mountain and the deepest, longest valley in the solar system"
>>
>>127717021

>>
>>127717091
at .38 g it's still closer to the moon's, but it's all irrelevant because your ascent vehicle was sent up years ago and has quietly refuelled itself using in-situ resource utilization; after you land in your descent vehicle, you have the option of hopping into the descent vehicle and taking off at the next transfer window

Further FYI, there are only 24 astronauts that visited actual space and only a marginal number of sattelites and probes.
You trying to tell me we dont need a space station because the ISS is the perfect place to study space, because its not even in space.
I find that illogical, at best.

People are conspiracy theorists because of a combination of stupidity and ignorance. Unfortunately the former precludes rectifying the latter.

You'd think that because there's more information out there on how the world works there'd be less conspiracy theorists spouting off their batshit theories, but nope. Stupid people can't not be ignorant, and stupid ignorant people become conspiracy theorists.

All the internet has done has allowed them to better disseminate their conspiracy theories to other stupid ignorant people so that the internet has become a vehicle for ignorance, not knowledge, because the people who use it don't deserve it.

Thus are all the great works of great men undone.

Most of our probes that have been sent out have measured radiation throughout the whole solar system, even the Voyager probes measured radiation, so we have at least an overview of how it is distributed in the solar system without having had to set a foot into space.
If you have that data you can simulate it on earth and develop shielding there.
I fail to see how that is the problem.
>>
>>127720314

Yeah, one of the great problems we have is that the effort required to create bullshit is far less than the effort to refute it.

Another huge problem is that if I tell you: look this new evidence suggests mars is slightly smaller than we thought, you'll go "oh cool." But if I show you information that contradicts a core belief, generally people become hostile and double-down on their beliefs.

Earth escape velocity : 11.2km/s
Mars escape velocity : 5.0km/s

I think its possible. Consider that rockets have carried the massive space shuttle into space. That shows how much excess baggage they can carry.

A Mars landing and take off would require about 40% more fuel than just an Earth takeoff+land.

40% extra fuel weighs less than a spaceshuttle.

Plus we've got another 35 years tech level.

All we need now is a kike willing to part with 15 billion shekels for a handful of martian rocks. The best scientists and engineers can work miracles in unlocking new physics and rockets but some things are physically impossible.

Massive projects are used to control society when there's no wars to fight. e.g. the pyramids. But they are not the preferred way because it generates too much pride \ cohesion \ nationalism amongst the goys.

There's much more shekels to be made by splitting the goys into warring factions.

Yes, MIR was the first, you're right. It only cost a fraction of the ISS because it was much older technology which makes certain things like some of the modules of the ISS just not possible on there.

I don't understand the second sentiment. We had that point before that you could simulate almost all the conditions on Earth. Some experiments will be specific to LEO and some will be specific to actual outer space and maybe we will do them when we get a station up there.
Another reason why we don't have one there is that it requires way more logistics and more risk in case of an emergency. I think we just got too cautious.

Anyway, nice talking to you, it's dawning on me that I have to read up on all this stuff for the next debate, especially what the fuck they are actually studying up there.

You don't know the crazy shit I believe in that I can't prove. Doesn't mean I go around pretending to be this great enlightener about unknown information. This 'yeah man i'm gonna redpill you by just making you doubt' thing is ridiculous.
Either you are skeptic by nature or you aren't. I already am, this didn't change anything other than reminding me to read up on it so that next time I can argue more efficiently.

I am very skeptic, just in another way than pop-conspiracy theorists would like to see themselves.

I can't prove who killed JFK and why for example, the official narrative is insufficient, it's a complex thing that when I step outside, I can easily see how it could have been a lot of parties organizing his killing.
I can't prove the Universe is a simulation as another example. In my mind, it's completely rational to assume it is, yet if you talk to certain people about it they would deem you insane. It also wouldn't actually change anything knowing it is.

Anything pertaining to the universe has something to do with us.
The last two sentences of yours tell me a lot though. I got into conspiracy theories in the first place because I didn't believe any of them and because I love to understand how humans work.

And I'm going to go out on a limb and say that a lot of conspiracies stem from people misunderstanding human action and intention on a deep level at first, experiencing the cognitive dissonance and emotional pain of that and then either work on understanding in a healthy way or work on understanding in an unproductive way, divining extraordinary intentions into the most benign actions.
That doesn't have to apply to you but I think I'm onto something there. You can ignore this post, it was kind of only for me.
>>
>>127732400

You could probably get some improved measurements about the sun and maybe some totally new data. Maybe test/confirm some shit we've come up with.
>>
>>127714093
I thought the sun is not even hot enough to have nuclear fusion? Wasn't there a whole hoopla back in the early 2000's about That?
>>
>>127713150
Figured it would be something like that.
>>
>>127732908

I don't think we have enough water to perform a feat like that. Maybe if we had a sun made of ice.
>>
>>127733153
>>127714093

Or does it maintain it due to pressure since it's so enormous. If that's the case then why go to the sun? What other goals are they hoping to accomplish?

The sun would get orders of magnitude more iron from asteroids in fucking day than it will from this probe. Shit it might even produce more of it by itself as random flukes/chance even at its current hydrogen to helium stage.
>>
>>127733153
there's constant nuclear fusion inside the sun ya dingus, hydrogen is constantly transformed into helium, while heat may not be high enough (tough, i'm not sure), with the pressure generated on it's core, it's enough to have nuclear fusion

My problem is that i think everything we know from the base is flawed making the adult picture distorted.Like em drive cant work because law prohibits it yet after 50 years it looks like its working but nobody can tell why is it working. How many things could have gone unnoticed because some law stated its impossible and no experiment was conducted?
My last two sentences...You may have the truth there, but there is something for sure.
>>
>>127733789
The Sun could be electric you know. That way you dont have invent bullshit to support the nuclear theory.
>>
>>127734079

>>127711701
>>127725659
Exactly, looks fake as fuck. If there's no gravity there's no reason for it to move in any direction, same with the hair, Why is it pointing up? It's only to create the illusion that "hurr duhrr, in no gravity there's a magic force that pulls things upwards instead" and fool the scrubs. There's no reason why the hair wouldn't be pointing downwards and remained like that if she took a second to move it with her hands.
>inb4 the necklace moves because of small vibrations in her body
Then compare the movement of the necklace to the nonexistent movement of the hair and realize that it's all CGI.
>>
>>127711572
You guys do realize that objects can get very close to the sun without being destroyed right?
Spacecraft can reach temperatures exceeding that of the sun during reentry and be made to survive.
Also the mission isn't to crash into the sun they're sending a robot to an orbit about 3.7million miles from the sun to study the sun's corona and take pictures with an array of cameras tuned to different light spectrums.
>>
>>127734424

Sounds logical to me.Also answers why simulations of the sun to create selfsustaining fusion for energy purposes fails.Because the Sun is not what we belive it is.

Electric? Do you mean being made of pure energy and no matter or matter in a plasma state? It is highly massive and in a plasma state. That's a requirement for nuclear fusion to be acquiring, melting small atoms into larger ones. What is "the nuclear theory"? That stars have nuclear fusion and that his all the heavy elements on the periodic table are created?
>>
>>127734985
For a certain amount of electric input you retard. 50w in a photon thruster will get you more thrust than 50 watts in an EM thruser. Plus the photon thruster will most likely be much lighter too, and reliable, and cheaper.
>>
>>127735300
So its working.Yet no new discovered physics regardless that conservation of momentum and Newton's third law is broken if it works.
See.Why wouldnt you want to know why it works rather than telling why it wont?
Gee a prototype is weaker than a photon thruster lets throw it away.
Its not like jet engines were capable of breaching the soundbarrier from the start.
>>
>>127733969
I do agree with hacking at established theories and concepts, though, that will always be necessary to get even more information and on some level I'm glad people are tirelessly doing that. I'm really not against it.

Some people seem to make it their dogma and lifestyle though and it starts to get emotional and irrational at some point which not only gives you diminishing returns but can be downright unproductive and set you back.
