Niggers and internet killed malls. You cannot save malls without killing the 2.

>>127684866
Literally nothing of value of lost.

Some malls are converted into hospitals or office space. There isn't any shortage of office space in the US though. Majority of the floors in any high-rise office building anywhere are vacant.

Could probably convert them into apartments with some work but idk there is much demand for an apartment that takes 15 minutes of walking to get to your car. That's probably the main reason they died off.

depends on your city
i live in a pretty rural-ish town (normal for canada, small compared to the rest of the world), and our *main* mall has been holding rather steady, but our other malls that aren't in the downtown core are absolutely destroyed. the people that own them must be hemorrhaging money.

from what i've seen just being across canada and the american midwest is that malls are being ignored in favour of those big box stores like Walmart
There's usually more room for stock and the price you pay for property is negligible to that of mall fees, some of which have gotten ridiculously expensive, because well ironically enough, no one goes to mall.

they probably wont be "Saved" but there is still a place for them. for now.
>>
>>127687562
So why aren't they being used anymore, if your pop is larger.
>>
>>127684866
I feel a bit sorry for the people who worked there losing their business or just being forced to undertake the cost and stress of moving their business. Went to a mall near my home a while back and while I was buying shoes I chatted with the Clerk and he was telling me about how they were going to be pulling out in a few weeks. Since then (perhaps a year ago now) the mall is essentially dead and will be closing down completely soon.
>Can they be saved?
One of the big reasons they die is because a new highway has diverted traffic away from them by being quicker and more efficient, the only way you could save a mall killed by this is somehow reroute traffic back through the location of the store. Possible but probably not efficient or economically feasible.
>Should they?
Probably not, it would probably be more efficient to convert the shell to whatever function it can serve best. Keeping businesses starved of customers alive is just an infinite money sink because no amount of money injected into a business can bring it's customers back once they've found somewhere else to shop that's easier to get to.
>>

Just wait until they find out we're intentionally increasing the rents to drive out businesses and drive away customers with increasing costs, in order to do exactly that--turn them into camps.
>>
>>127687572
This makes a bit of sense, I'm fucking glad the mall thing never caught on here. We have three in my city one south one north and one in the town centre. They won't be closing any time soon.

Price markup is ridiculous to the current generation that are just getting into the workforce.

Best thing they can do is learn how to sell clothes and such at a more competitive price but at the same time realize people don't want to buy shit. Its a really hard balance but from what I have seen, places like H&M and forever21 have gotten it down almost right.

>>127684866
They shouldn't be saved at all costs. Obviously, it's a waste to not use it, and you should think hard about just destroying it altogheter - but there's no point in keeping it, when you can build something useful instead. It's just like with industralisation - why you should run across the field with a fucking sickle, when you can drive combine harvester? Less tiresome and way more effective. It's kinda sad, though. I am curious how much it would cost to set up paintball club in such mall, it would be fucking amazing. I am curious if you could make a school, too. It could function. My high school was a hospital before, it's not such bad idea.

Either this kills a mall, or it gentrifies to the point where the first two have no effect.

I've got six major malls within about 15-45 minutes from me:
Coral Square
Sawgrass Mills
Broward
Galleria
Dolphin
Aventura
(South Florida for those wondering)

The only one where I can actually afford to shop at more than half the stores there is Coral Square now, and even that's becoming difficult. Sawgrass added a massive fashion row, Aventura and the Galleria have always been extremely upscale. Dolphin Mall is more of a tourist trap; it has a bowling alley, a D&B, Laser tag arena, theater with dinner service, among a ton of massive anchors. Broward also gentrified pretty heavily, and although it's not upscale, it's still way beyond what I'd typically spend on clothing.

Middle class malls; the ones where people would shop regularly, have been replaced by Walmart, Target, and the internet. Why would I go out to a mall, to try on clothing at eight different store, when I can do it all at one store, and also be able to pick up my groceries? The internet has also replaced the more retail-goods oriented shops, due to lower prices and cheaper, if not free, shipping.

Hell, I work at a Best Buy, and it's been dead nearly every weekday since the end of the holidays. It gets busier on the weekends, but on a weekday, it's often just me walking around the store; you can only dust the fucking laptops so many times.

The malls that were in my area that have somewhat gone to shit, did so because of niggers and the internet. There are entire strip malls that are practically dead in my area because of low property value from violent low-class degenerates trashing the place, and formerly major anchors of the shopping centers have closed down.

More or less this.

I am from Savannah, GA originally, and there are two malls, Oglethorpe and The Savannah Mall. The Savannah Mall (1990s) is so much nicer and newer than the other, which was originally built in the 1960/70s if I recall. Savannah mall was built for whites to get away from all the niggers, but then they did a huge revamp at Oglethorpe and downtown got remodeled over the last two decades and the area was getting rid of blacks and people started to flood back to it.

Now Savannah Mall is dead with a food court, Target and Bass Pro (not sure if they've left, haven't been back for a year or two). But it's more or less dead and some parts are now bought by the local university or whatever.

That's capitalism. If you can't deliver a better product, or better service, you die. Online "malls", like Amazon, are far more convenient for a shopper, but I wonder, where are kids hanging out now?

I remember when I was a kid, most of the time, even though I didn't like shopping, I hung out with my friends at a mall. I should talk to my little sister, I want to know about the next generation.

Niggers didn't kill my mall. It's still there, but the business is lacking. There's NOTHING of value.

The only thing there worth a damn is H&M. Everything else is anchor stores that sell pleb stuff like relaxed fit jeans for fatties and poor people. GameStop? No need. 90% of the mall is for Latina Instagram women.

After a year or two they tried to get rid of the kids with curfews and most places closed.

The Dick's Sporting Goods is about a few miles down the road from the mall.

>Dairy Queen
>Wendy's

Not much value there, since it's right down the block from said mall.

To me, a good mall needs to give me an incentive to shop there. I need available necessities first and foremost. This is also why the downtown area I live in is lacking, because it's nothing but industrial stores such as muffler shops and places to eat breakfast.

Imagine a place that can almost be commercially independent from the rest of the town. To me, that's a good shopping center.

In a White Utopia, we would have sprawling suburbs with large homes and gardens and large recreational and communal areas.

All commercial buildings would be in a giant, out of town lot, hidden from site. You would just order everything online all the time. Groceries, pizza, what have you.

About all you'd have in town would be restaurants and galleries and concert venues and shit.

Hot Topic is barely alive. They don't even sell emo-looking shit anymore. Just a few videogame-esque and meme shit. Usually stuff for even lower than teenagers. At most a pair of pants if you're shorter than 6 feet tall.

For a brief moment they tried to revive their emo stuff, but that failed.

I tried going there to buy a studded wristband for a halloween costume a few years ago and they sold nothing like that. Spencer's was asking for 30 bucks a pop.

Today we have shitload of malls with shops, cinemas and food courts in any major city, but I would rather have the space used for apartments, restaurants and parks.
>>
>>127692690
0 that I'm aware of.

But the threat level is critical atm, even though every constituency within 200 miles of me is 90%+ white, I avoid shopping centers that are closed in. Town center is better. Ironically i've seen armed police at the town center but not shopping centers. Theres been dozens of threats to carry them out on malls.

I miss malls. They were always the place to hang out in my childhood and teenage years. As a little kid my Mom would take us a lot and my brothers and I would play in this huge ass play castle that dominated the mid section of the mall. We'd also stop by Bass Pro, GameStop, Auntie Anne's and the Food Court, and maybe a few other shops while we were there as well. Maybe even go to the mall's cinema once in awhile.

I always get a little depressed when I see a new dead mall video pop up in my feed.
>>
>>127689337

It really was.

Sick new shit coming out all the time, jobs that were easy and paid well, but not too well.

Today costs of living are too high and consumer goods are too cheap.

It is impossible for anything to be special. Fry's had a 60 inch 4k TV for $549 this weekend. The equivalent of 80 hours at minimum wage after taxes. There is almost no consumer good that is so awesome that it's worth saving for months or even years to buy.

It doesn't matter if it''s superficial, it feels like achievement, and that is what we all actually want. For a brief moment, we got to feel achievement witgout having to put in real work to get it.

It's still out there, but it's a hell of a lot harder to get the same feeling.
>>
>>127693587
This world is not material rather information; digital. Malls are a lie, absolute dissonance and do not belong. The world is not what you think it is.
>>
>>127690335

The banking regulations changed that.

Good parents used to cosign low limit credit cards to build their child''s credit history.

I had one at 13 moving forward and had 10 years of low balances and perfect payments when I bought my house.

Motorcycles. Although the creditor Jew is willing to let yu have it now for a low down payment.

That'd be pretty neat if it was renovated and turned into a horizontal apartment block. Replace the glass windows with walls. Replace the midway stalls with grocers. Get a nice community going in there.
>>
>>127694199

This much is true, I will give you that.

Vehicles driven for fun are the last bastion. Even then, you can pick up ATVs on the secondary market for under $2,000.

People used to have boats too, but that is less of a thing.

Even young you look at old video game ads and people would pay $70 for a premium snes game and it would be SO worth it.

Having near arcade quality street fighter 2 was something else entirely. Today it is meaningless.

>>127695108

That's 737 Aussie fun bucks.

You folks are great about paying your bogans well, but the problems I've described are all the worse.

Housing is more expensive and consumer goods are the same price. This means just getting a place to live is the only sensation of "achievement through purchase" you will ever receive.

People were happier when they got less for their money because it was more special.

Particle physics, quantum mechanics, disprove the great lie. When we aren't looking matter behaves like light, something that is not possible in a material reality, the conclusion is inescapable: reality is not what we think it is. Matter, time, all of this is a lie.

malls aren't fun. it also isn't fun being nagged to death by people who work on commission.

let me shop, and fuck off.

no

Yeah, and <40 hours a week minimum wage nets you 800+. Generally speaking i'm a detractor of our high min wage, but that's fucking insane.

I visited a mall recently, mostly out of curiosity since I hadn't been to one in years.

It was crawling with niggers and spics toting their ugly, fat children.
What a horrible experience. I'll never go back. Let them rot.

People deserve to feel good.

I would rather them go into work every day for a year, then finally afford to buy something cool that they are proud of.

Somehow you manage to post pure cognitive dissonance in under 75 words. Somehow it's better for a minimum wage retard to earn conisderably more tHan they deserve, but a bad thing that they feel good about their purchases.

Should everyone be able to buy nice things via a high minimum wage, or is it a bad thing? Your post indicates that you believe both.

>>127690363

She's probably too busy ramming nigger dicks down her gullet.
>>
>>127697284
>People deserve to feel good.

Why do you think i'm arguing against that? I just don't think your argument, that things should be (or were better when they were) more expensive, or people should earn less, just to trick the pleasure center of their brain. I'd rather they feel good through other measures without working 3-4 weeks to purchase a shitty tv (when you account for rent / cost of living).

This isn't a zero sum game where the only positive feelings people can gain (while working 80 fucking hours) is through consuming goods.

Also, i worked 38 hours last week at $2+ above minimum wage (because we get annual wage increases) with a take home pay of 860 dollars, after tax, and if i didn't have supplementary income from rental properties and a contracting gig on the side, i'd be getting a tax rebate on the minimum wage.
>>
>>127698111

Also in case you're gonna try for a 'gotcha' post because 'hurr 19.70 x 38 = 750!', we have loading of up to +25% on casual wages and higher pay rates for weekend work.

honestly the problem with most malls is they are boring as fuck

i recall when malls used to feature arcades, laser tag, food, and other things.

it was like an attraction to want to go there beyond just shopping for clothes.

today when i go to malls the only thing they offer is clothes, clothes, clothes, and more clothes, maybe one game store and a food courtyard.

like the food courtyard is just there for the employees at that point cause no sane person wants to just fucking stand around in a do nothing zone unless they got what they need or are passsing through.

Last time i was in california they featured go karts in one of the malls, up here in seattle they aint got SHIT.

seattle is a fucking shithole and a joke of a city.

Maybe I'm the only one here old enough to remember malls when they are in their prime.
Malls were the internet before the internet. It was a place you could go to get whatever you wanted (within reason) in one place without driving all over town. Malls were situated just outside of city centers or on the edge of suburbs for that reason. One stop shopping.

Are you a 12-19 year old white middle class person with nothing to do today? Go to the fucking mall!

Hungry?
> the food court has a panda express and a Sbarro!

Bored?
> the video arcade has that new Mortal Kombat!

Horny?
> every Stacey, Jenny or Suzie you've met is at the mall right now!

Lonely?
> the mall has a fucking pet store!

Unaware of today's music?
> Debbie Gibson is playing the mall!

Parents could drop their kids off at 11 with $20 and pick them up again at 6 and never worry. You can't do that today. That is why they're dying, they were the cheapest babysitter in town. Once this thousands of kids each with their $20 stopped coming malls started dying. Go into any mall today and you'll see why that happened.

Malls are a ripoff, require driving to visit, and their poor selection doomed them when internet ordering arrived. They have a niche but in most places they are obsolete. Old mall buildings are not valuable so demolish them and reuse the land if it's worth it.
