I don't know how true this would be. The War in Angola was basically won in 1973, and the army wasn't too far off from defeating FRELIMO in Moçambique. Maybe if they had had the foresight to ditch Guiné-Bissau early, the wars in Africa could have been won before 1974, and maybe the coup avoided. However, I don't think this is a sure thing.
