Is vegetarianism all it's cracked up to be, in terms of both dieting and keeping cows, chickens, fish etc. from going extinct/endangered? I'm curious on /pol/'s thoughts on this.

You live longer and it's healthier (just google it). It's also more ethical. It doesn't keep animals from going extinct though.

You honestly can't discuss it because carnicucks will get butthrut in a matter of seconds though and start sprouting made up bullshit.

I don't know how one could give up something they've eaten basically their entire life cold turkey. People I've talked to who were vegetarian say that after a while you just grow an immunity to meat once you've stopped eating it, but that's got to take months or even years.
>>
>>127554119
>terms of both dieting and keeping cows, chickens, fish etc. from going extinct/endangered?

You know that cows and chicken are domesticated animals right? As in, that species didn't exist before we domesticated them. Therefore them going extinct would only have a positive effect on the environment. Also fish is a very, very, very broad term. Do you know how many species of fish there are?
>>
>>127554778
There are tons of fish yes, but they have the same basic meat/acids don't they?
>>

I don't crave it at all now, I might of when I switched but I can't remember. There's stuff called quorn which works as a healthier substitute.

I've heard that if you go a very long time as a vegetarian/vegan, your body needs to be eased back into eating meat. I mean if you go without veggies and fruit for a long time you'll shit yourself after eating a bunch, so that argument probably stands for anything foreign to your body.

I may very well be, but I would think with all of the fast food and meat shipped off and sold to supermarkets, eventually there won't be enough meat to go around for the entire world. If say 90% of the human population was vegetarian, ergo there's no high demand for meat, the population of cows and chickens would be maintained for millenia, wouldn't it?

Out of experience, cold turkey is a very hard road. I went vegetarian in steps, first I dropped the cows and pigs, then chicken, and at the end I dropped fish from my plate. It took like a year I think. Now I'm like five to six years vegetarian and never felt back.

What everyone has to realise is that you don't need to be a hardliner, and mistakes can happen. I ate some crips which were flavoured with pig fat and I didn't knew.
You will be more aware of what's in your food when a mistake happened.

I highly recommend going vegetarian, as it drives people mad when you are one. Just lean back and watch how they try to trick themselves into thinking it's okay to buy meat from exploited animals.

There is nothing better than creating the feel of butthurt out of your sole existence.

Yeah I had a few friends who kept chickens growing up and we weren't that rural. It's economical. They keep what they need and sell the rest by putting a few signs up on the nearby roads. People pay extra for them since they're not from mega producers with hormone chickens.
>>

Years, I am six years deep and I JUST stopped enjoying the smell of cooking meat. It made my mouth water before and if I got drunk I was down to eat a whole pizza myself. Wake up like ''FUCCKCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!''.

But honestly raw vegan/fruitarian/veganism in that order is definately the biggest red pill.

>Dr.Sibi
>Dr.Gerson(Gerson institute)
>Hippocrates

Those listed above have cured disease and knew the truth. They paid the cost. I am beginning to believe Jesus(Isa) was real and he was advocating a raw food diet! The word fish in the bible was a mistranslation. The actual meaning of the word translates as ''FISHWEED'' aka sea weed. Seaweed is world renowned for it's nutritional density and healing properties.

>>
>>127556547
Exactly. I have six myself. I don't even have to fence them in, they don't move that far away from their house and every morning the same thing happens: they rediscover my lawn and busy themselves eating grass, shoots and bugs. That's their whole life.

They're just happy and it's very relaxing to have them. The eggs are something else, the yolk is so deeply yellow it shines red. Sells like hotcakes, everyone wants natural eggs, they'll pay three times the going rate and thank you. The meat is also something special, I can call a mobile butcher who will come to my house and kill them and then pay top-dollar for the organic meat.
>>

V8 is shit tier vegan product. Fresh organic juice, like one hour ago less it was on the vine/picked is the most easily assimilated nutritional/healing/hydrating/beneficial source of life revitalizing energy.

>>
>>127554119
You don't really seem to know what you're talking about at all.

Cows and chickens will never go extinct. In fact, farming them for food would ensure their proliferation. I believe you're thinking about habitat destruction, overfishing and overhunting? Those are problems whether you're clearing the land for agriculture or animal husbandry. The biggest conservation concern directly related to meat consumption would be overfishing, which is a problem. Pollution from animal waste is a concern as well.

Veganism is more about humane and ethical treatment of animals, as well as health. I personally eat far, far less meat than the typical American does. But I'm not a vegan. I don't follow a diet like it's a religion. When I want meat, I eat meat. But I take the opportunity to forego it when I can. Clearly my countrymen have a big problem with their overconsumption of burgers, hot dogs, buffalo wings, steaks, etc. I think it's a sin to consume like that. To kill and eat animals to the point that you're obese, just for fleeting pleasure. It's grotesque. But that's just my opinion.
>>
>>127557318
why do you have shit on your fingers? are you Indian
>>
>>127556660
I also find it funny how they don't compare people who adhere to a smart omnivorous diet with vegetarian diet. Instead they compare vegicucks to fast food eaters.
They know that they would get their shit pushed in in terms of health otherwise.
>>
>>127557403
No I am trying to deter people from drinking that shit by putting shit on the label because it is shit while simultaneously drawing more attention to my posts because raw food cures cancer and your mother will die in the sleep tonight if you do not reply to this post. >>
>>127556158
Nobody's butthurt over your dumbass hippy diet. Humans have been eating meat since the very beginning. You think you can get B12 from your shitty almond milk and plant-based supplements but it's not the same as the B12 you get from meat. You're not making a difference at all by refusing to eat meat. They're already dead.
>>
I'm a vegetarian and have been since i was a child, only one in the family. Parents finally agreed to it when they got sick of waiting hours for me not to finish my plate.
I have no ethical reasons for not eating meat other than i just dont like it, i become physically ill if i accidently eat meat tho, mostly vomiting. (Its been over 27 years since i ate any meat)
Anyway, eat meat or don't,you can be healthy with either, just dont be a dick who tells others what eat.
Finally, vegans are insane.
>>
>>127556898
Eating fresh food is something not many people experience these days.
I tried my hand at farming, always loved potatoes so I planted some. I have to say, the smell and taste of those potatoes straight off the root and into the pan was a revelation to me. I've since tried many vegetables and meats freshly picked/butchered. It can change your view of what food is. And to think that this is how our ancestors ate before everything became industrialized. Sure food was scarcer but holy shit it was good.
>>
>>127554119
Vegetarianism in youngsters results in them not taking in enough vitamins and calcium, hence their bones don't build up properly and they're more likely to suffer from bone problems such as osteoporosis when they're older, as bone tissue only builds up for the first 30 years of your life, then starts to decrease in volume. Overall eating just vegetables without meat or fish, even if you're taking supplements, is unhealthy and not a good diet to have. It's not recommended. Veganism is even worse.
>>
>>127556898
Yes Trader Joes here has the "orange" yolks like you described. They are superior. I hope to live more rural one day and will definitely have chickens and a vegetable garden. I have no qualms with killing them myself and butchering them. I already break down turkeys and chickens at home that are de-feathered.
>>
>>127557360
>overfishing and overhunting
I was thinking about those, actually. I couldn't for the life of me find the right word for it until now. I thought the main cause of it was the insane demand for their meat, especially in the United States.
>>
>>127557945
It does make a difference because it causes reduced demand. Thus less supply. Sure the butchered animals are already dead. But when the meat sells less they will produce less.
>>
>>127557902

Vegans are always sickly looking noodle-armed cucks which is why I never went full vegan. Clearly it is bad. But so is overconsumption of meat, I mean look at the Walmart shoppers who pig out on hot dogs and burgers. Balance and moderation... that is the key.
>>
>>127557969
I've always heard that veganism was more a political thing than it is a diet thing. Vegetarianism is for dieting, while veganism is for tree hugging hippies?
>>
>>127558014
True that, it's a shame really. After two weeks with organic eggs I honestly believe most people would choke on an industrial. You can almost taste the hurt and the chemicals in them.

Potatoes are another one of those superfoods, they'll grow practically everywhere and again, it's almost common sense to plant them year after year. Unfortunately the growing season is kind of short here.

The food might have been scarcer, but the nutritional value was so much higher :/
>>
>>127556158
>trick themselves into thinking it's okay

I mean I'm not tricking myself, they're literally bred for food, they mean nothing.
>>
>>127557504
Smart and omnivore do not belong in the same sentence other than, "If man were starving because there were absofuckinglutely no plant based foods possibly within his ability to acquire without starving to death before acquiring them it might be smart to consider becoming omnivorous for one single meal".

After six years of being on a strictly organic vegan diet these are the most common excuses I hear from omnifats:

>Meat tastes to good
>I can't it's hard(to control myself)
>What about cheese
>I *like* meat too much(true)
>That's not healthy
>You have to eat meat or you will get sick

That's right folks. You are reading this correctly:
>Want
>I can't
>It's too hard
>Tastes good
>I like

Those are excuses given by adults not children. Adults that eat meat are easily the most child like of any diet selection in my experience. Often citing not one source other than their own weakness. It's pathetic. Spineless bullshitters and fucking excues makers who are comfortable and scared of the truth that push meat to the table. Lazy bullshiters, they eat the shit the T.V. spews too.
>>
>>127558249
>hot dogs and burgers
To be fair, processed meat and ground beef is probably the worst possible thing you could put in your body. It's at a very different level from chicken and fish.
>>
>>127558093
Overfishing is a really really big problem. Tons of research out there to read. We are severely depleting the ocean's supplies and catches are getting smaller and smaller. People need to cut back on fish, but it's good for you and people like it. Big issue.

Another big problem is the omega-3 oil capsule industry. Another thing to read up on. The current rates of consumption are well past sustainable.

Been vegan since 2015. I have 40 pounds of lentils in my flat along with 40 pounds of additive-free rice Protein. Organic as well. Eat Dahl pretty much every day and about 200 g of rice proteinshakes with sugar and cocoa solids. Recently tried cocoa liquor, very good as well. I try to buy as much bulk as possible and cook my own meals everyday. I supplement with magnesium, zinc, D-vitamin and B12. And creatine.

Most of my macros are from the above, rest is assorted vegetables like onions, garlic, carrots, soy sauce, spices. Been eating an entire garlic daily for a while now, shits cash. I get most of my vitamin-C from juice and fruits. Been drinking organic green tea for years daily, supplementing with chamomile and fresh ginger. I recently switched to Yerba Maté recently due to the caffeine and anti-oxidants, as well as vitamins and minerals. I think it may have anti-depressant properties.

Right now I'm drinking cold-brewed 5 grams of green tea along with 30 g of maté, 4 bags of chamomile and a thumb of fresh ginger. Been steeping over an hour. Next I'm gonna drink it during my shower followed by 30 minutes of sitting meditation using binaural beats. I'm also a bit high

I do about an hour of yoga daily, and olympic/bodyweight and powerlifting to a lesser extent now a days 3 tmes a week as well. Squatting 125 kg at about 85 kg bodyweight, 31.25 for dips, cleans are 92.5

I dance on the weekends (sometimes I socialize more, but mostly just dancing for hours and hours) and drink about a beer or 3 once or twice a week, sometimes more variation. I regularly take psychedelics, bout once a month and been smoking weed for 6 months everyday. Study medicine at university.

Sorting myself out with my senpai and my gf recently. Still fucking sexually frustrated but I take it as a natural side-effect from being to clean and exercising so much

Come at me me-eaters

The argument I generally hear from vegans is that is unnecessary suffering. but there are lots of things humans do that result in unnecessary suffering.

For the sake of consistency, a vegan who believes this should also believe all contact sports (rugby, boxing, mma, football) are bad, as well as horse racing/riding of all kinds.

When you extrapolate out the conclusions of the vegan hypothesis, it's absurd in many regards.

Why the fuck would anyone want to longer anyway? Why would anyone want to grow up to be a miserable old man or woman that need to take helth medikation everyday for old people conditions? There is objektivly no good reason to want to live longer. You hate everything, your body feels like shit and less mobile, no one wants to be with you either, that's why old people are always lonely. Living longer is a bigger reason not to be one.

Its the exact opposite

If humans stopped eating meat: cows, chickens etc would see a massive decline in population.
These animals are so successful BECAUSE we eat them.

If eating turtle became popular, the population would increase because (to meet the new demand) humans would begin building artificial enviroments were they are safe, have enough food to grow and reproduce.

The only real problem with this is humans would selectively breed these animals, meaning there is less genetic diversity, meaning the species is more susceptible to disease.

The reason might see a decline in population because an organism is eaten is in cercomstances where it is cheaper to collect the animal from the enviroment than to farm it.

For example, overfishing is only a problem because farming them is really expensive so the only way to stay competitive is to go catch them. This is not the same with all animals

The difference comes from consent. Unless you live in an ice covered region like alaska and other places like it you would be better served by a vegan diet. Even in arctic conditions people could thrive on a vegan diet through trade but I know the isolation/availability is a big part of life in those areas.

I don't ride horses and I am not even close to an average vegan. I am on /pol/ for fucks sake. There are shit tier humans in various places and under different colors but believe efficient study into nutrition will lead you to raw food and plant based diets reigning supreme on soooooooooooo many levels.

also, since you didn't read my source, let me quote it

>What About Hindu Vegans Who Have No B12 Deficiency?

Proponents of the B12 in plant foods myth like to point out that Hindus from India do not seem to suffer from any B12 deficiency despite their diet which includes no animal foods.

However, what is conveniently left out of the discussion is that vegan Hindus that move to England quickly develop B12 deficiency symptoms with no change in diet.

Why?

This is because in India, the plant foods consumed by vegans include many insects and insect larvae due to the lack of pesticide use and and inefficient cleaning methods. In England, insects and their residues are completely removed from plant foods before they are consumed, thus removing the tiny and yet plentiful animal foods that were serving to preserve the Hindu vegans’ health in their homeland.

>5. Conclusions

A survey of naturally occurring and high Vitamin B12-containing plant-derived food sources showed that nori, which is formed into a sheet and dried, is the most suitable Vitamin B12 source for vegetarians presently available. Consumption of approximately 4 g of dried purple laver (Vitamin B12 content: 77.6 μg /100 g dry weight) supplies the RDA of 2.4 μg/day. In Japan, several sheets of nori (9 × 3 cm2; approximately 0.3 g each) are often served for breakfast. A large amount of nori can be consumed as certain forms of sushi (vinegared rice rolled in nori). In particular, hand-rolled sushi made by wrapping rice and fillings with nori is easy to prepare and facilitates the consumption of a large amount of nori.

How does this support any of your claims, it states all the varied plants, fungi and shit to get B12 from

Vegetarianism is a shit diet and only serves to make you feel morally superior while you continue to eat at a nutritional defecit while still gaining weight.

It blames obesity on non-issues such as meat and dairy, while the vegetarian diet is actually full of the real root cause: carbs.

If you really want a diet that is effective, you need one that has more protein and fat and WAY less carbs. That is exactly what the vegetarian diet is not.

You're missing the forest for the trees. You're focusing so hard on getting your vitamins that you fail to see what's really causing issues for the vast majority of people. Overconsumption of carbohydrate is a way more important concern than making sure you get your B12.

Look into the biochemistry, my dude. Obesity, diabetes, etc are a direct result of eating high-carb your entire life. Vitamins matter but don't kid yourself on what's most important.

Glad to see a diet that works for you. But if you aren't LARPing, you are clearly working harder instead of smarter. There is an easier, more efficient diet that works better, and its all about cutting out the carbohydrates.

>>
>>127572923
Tell that to the thousands of people that have cut out the carbs and lost significant amounts of weight as a result.

It's all about switching your body from running on sugar (from carbs) to running on ketones (from fat). Once you cut out the carbs and make that switch, you are far better off for it. Your body starts burning fat automatically. You aren't using as much insulin, and your blood sugar does not spike as much.

People on low-carb diers have actually shown to have improved cholesterol levels, reversed symptoms of type-2 diabetes, and significantly-improved blood sugar control.

I'm not saying you have to eat meat all the time. Have your plants all you want. But don't pat yourself on the back for eating plants while still loading up on sugar from bread, corn, and rice.
>>
>>127554119
Lol.
>keeps them from going extinct

You haven't spent a single fucking second thinking about this have you? The only reason why they aren't extinct is because we consume them, hence there is profit in their continued survival. People who brees them are rewarded for doing so by the consumer.

The same applies for hunting. Who is going to conserve the animals if huntinf becomes illegal? Do you have any idea how expensive it is to breed any animal and keep them healthy? It's only because hunting is such a wealthy business that we still have some species around.

If you want to eat plants only that's fine, do what you want but don't use such a stupid argument for doing so, you really look like an imbecile.
>>
>>127554119
>>127558447

Cows, chickens and pigs can't go extinct since they're being bred on a massive scale to feed us in the 1st place.
The other thing is that the body needs B12 vitamins, which is only found in meat and essential for making muscle and brain cells. Vegetarians and veganfags have to pop synthetic B12 vitamin pills to avoid nutrition deficiency.
>>
>>127573455
I never even go on /fit/, but I am on the ketogenic diet.

You're right. Cutting out the sugar is absolutelt key. But carbohydrates are chains of sugars, when you think about it. And they all turn into sugar eventually when your body digests it.

If you take 'sugar is bad' to its logical conclusion, you cant help but see that tons of carbs are bad too. Cut down on the sugar (I do 30g carbs a day max) and I guarantee you'll be better off. Doesn't mean you have to eat meat, but it's certainly harder without it.

It isn't really a logical conclusion to come to. It's very black and white perspective.

>Carbohydrates are a common source of energy in living organisms; however, no carbohydrate is an essential nutrient in humans.[22] Humans are able to obtain all of their energy requirement from protein and fats, though the potential for some negative health effects of extreme carbohydrate restriction remains, as the issue has not been studied extensively yet.[22] However, in the case of dietary fiber – indigestible carbohydrates which are not a source of energy – inadequate intake can lead to significant increases in mortality.[23]

So where do you get your fibre, faggot?

If instead of making 2 mistakes someone now only makes 1, they are going to see an improvement compared to how they did before and compared to others who still make both mistakes. Less junk food AND being plant-based would still be better.

It won't happen like that, there are too many people who don't care and wont care in the face of reason, who will still fund the animal industry. These animal farms will collapse slowly over centuries/decades.
>>
>>127574628
Doing something similar here, I do intermittent fasting tho. No farm animals, but eatable forest and spice-garden yeah. What I can't eat I just freeze for later.
>>
>>127574903
If I ever find out you are right, I'll consider going keto, but I haven't really seen any studies of ketogenic diets. All I know is that it increases fat metabolism
>>
>>127575081
It won't happen at all because humans will always be omnivores and your cult will change nothing.
>>
>>127575081
That just means the animals will go extinct slower. Same end. If they have no use, there is no reason to keep them, its a simple as that. Land will then also become used more for farming, meaning less space for animals and as someone who knows a few farmers and grew up on a farm... we aren't exactly thrilled about wild animals messing up the crops either.

Vegans need to stop pretending or stop being uninformed about the consequences of their "love for animals". I agree however that eating less meat and less sugar is healthier IF you eat bio and not contaminated GMO crops.
>>
>>127575218
You can be vegan and make your body go into ketosis, it's harder but who cares, it's doable.
>>
>>127574628

>>
>>127575648
But why would I, if I have no problem cutting? Quite the contrary, I struggle bulking
>>
>>127554119
I'm pretty into fresh and organic produce, during the warmer month my cat keeps me in stock with sustainable meats.

Rats, lizards, insects, high protein and ethical.
>>
>>127575380
You are the ones in a giant religion that spreads bad health and destroys the environment. I'll even mention the fact that you sacrifice animals for the "lolz".
>>
>>127575827
I wasn't saying that you should do it, I am saying that you can do it. :D

Note that unless you've found some beef-flavored soda, this is actually vegetarian-approved.

No I get that, I was just straight up wondering, why I should do keto for any other purpose than cutting. I'd honestly like an answer.. Mb minimizing adipose anabolism when bulking?
>>
To clarify carnists are a breed of their own.

The TRUE cucks are the vegetarians who don't then transition to veganism.

Vegetarianism is almost the exact definition of cuck, insufficiently conservative of animal products.

Dairy is the worst form of animal exploitation. Cows are fisted to be artificially inseminated in order to lactate from pregnancy. The calves are taken away as soon as they are born and either become veal or dairy cows themselves. Spent dairy cows are slaughtered for beef as soon as they stop lactating or can no longer stand/function
>>
>>127555148

>>
>>127576310

No real reason to do keto if you only have trouble bulking. Carbs are a good ally in a war against your own satiety index.
>>
>>127575994
Yeah that religion is called nature. Do it a favor and off yourself, you're too weak to participate.

Take a b12 supplement and you can eat vegan and be significantly healthier than the standard American average diet by default
>>
>>127576712
>Requiring supplements because your diet isn't sufficient
LOL
>>
>>127576712
Or eat balanced diet and you won't have to give any of your money to the pharma jew.

>Eating vegan
>Popping pills
Or you can not be an ultrafaggot and just buy fresh meats and veggies and make your own food instead of having chinese takeaway and McDonalds every night.
>>
>>127557945

The difference is a cyanide molecule. Vegan food contains an artificial B12 made with a cyanide molecule. The only practical difference is that you need to expend slightly more energy to convert it and get rid. It's no price to pay.
>>
>>127576712
>vegan
>ever healthy
keep lying to yourself
>>
>>127575581

Well mentally challenged people don't have a use to us, does that mean that people will just let them die? No, because there will always be people who care for the helpless, including the animals that can go extinct. The final animals of the animal industry could be relocated to animal sanctuaries if their count is really low, but even if they have to sacrifice a big number in order to end the animal holocaust, it's worth it.
Also dogs, cats and other pets don't have a purpose, and yet people still care for them.

Also there will be more land when the animal agriculture ends, because you are not accounting for all the fields that grow food for the animals that you are eating.

Carnist need to stop pretending or stop being misinformed about the consequences of their "But, bacon tho".
>>
>>127576907
There's no cyanide in my B12, what the fuck are you getting?
>>
>>127576583
So you are anti-nature then? I mean, you are apart of it, shouldn't you be the one to actually off himself? I am so confused.

>>Pharma Jew
It's a supplement not a prescription. You're giving your money to random small wholesalers. Not Jews. Lol

>>Eat a wellrounded diet that isn't McDonald's

Noone ever does that says that shit. And you're probably fat. Also a hidden gem is that I will never be overweight or obese in my life being vegan. Vegans are the only dietary group who have BMIs in the healthy/normal range.

America is obesogenic. Your rationales sound obesogenic to me
>>
>>127554119
If you into extreme, it usually ends up bad. This is a general life rule, not just limited to vegetarian diet. Monoculture of soya bean isn't of benefit and this plant dominates most processed vegan food.
>>
>>127577466
Actually I started gaining weight after going vegan. Could do it before. And you can still have health issues because of the diet. Veganism/vegetarianism is just healthier than conventional western diet, but it's not the code for god mode.
>>
>>127577466

Fuck off, vegans can be fat too. Also, even when the world vegan goes, there will be still unhealthy normalfags that consume products that will make them obese.

what are the biggest downsides of having chickens around all the time? I read a bunch of articles but not sure who to believe.
>>
>>127554119
In general its good for you because people eat too much meat. Try cutting down meat to one serving a day.

Is it gonna save the world and your soul...of course not.
>>
>>127577079
check your b12 supplement ingredients

make sure you have methylcobalamin, not cyanocobalamin
>>
>>127578488
Look at how those chickens are being held and answer yourself the question if eating meat from an animal raised in these conditions can be healthy. There is stress that causes illnesses, drugs so that they grow up faster, lack of hygiene. All of that you consume. Not to mention that animal products are less efficient when it comes to production. The current system skews that through money, but from an energetic point of view, meaning reality that we live in, it has been, is and will be always less efficient to have animal products. Maybe nanotechnology will change some of it.
>>
>>127579080
I just checked, it's methylcobalamin
>>
>>127579701
then you're fine

cyanocobalamin is the cheap shit that's bound to cyanide
>>
>>127562087
I'd rather be old than dead, who cares if my body is all fucked at least I can still browse the internet and smoke weed
>>
>>127557688
avoid fluoride, that meme again, lol
>>
>>127579989
believe fluoride is bad or not, city water is full of pharmaceuticals and such

all drinking water should be filtered, preferably by reverse osmosis or distillation
>>
>>127579701
Choose cyanocobalamin and get cyanide poisoning or methylcobalamin and get a meth addiction. Being vegan is hard. :D
>>
>>127579974
Being old and sick is a likely prospect if one consumes too much meat. One measure was 500g of red meat per week. You go above and risk of cancer raises drastically. It's the health that you should be concerned about. You loose that and it's over.
