The political outlook of people changes when they get married and really changes when they have children. The trend is from left to right on the political spectrum. The main reason is because you are now invested in the future beyond the time frame of your own life and so therefore become conservative.

I bet if you looked at political leaders who have children vs those who don't those with children will be considerably more conservative and practical than those who don't.

It's a similar thing with land owners, and business owners. The direct success of your future being tied to your equity give you a desire to improve the value of your equity to improve your own success in the future. Those two demographics tend to be waaay more conservative than people who aren't.

They used to say you could only get into leadership roles if you were married with kids.
Interesting how people found ways around this like marriages for conveniance or pretending to be christian.
Look at all the socialist politicians that are atheist but like magic are devout married christians during elections.

Notice how all the female politicians who love refugees just happen to spbe childless? They still have that mothering and protective instinct which would normally map onto their offspring to protect them from outgroup threats.
