>/pol/ wants us to explore the universe when we've only explored only 5 or 10% of our oceans, missing possibly thousands of undiscovered marine life or rare minerals
Don't get me wrong, I want to us to explore the universe too, but we should really focus on our oceans for now

You know how scientists are always clamoring about how we know more about outer space then we do our own oceans?

Maybe there is a fucking reason for that
1. The ocean sucks
2. Who wants to be around some faggy fish
3. Fuck salt

Let me explain to you something /pol/
We never need to explore our fucking oceans because theres nothing cool down there
So dont you go looking because your going to waste your time my time and humanities time

I dont understand why anyone would wanna go check out that bullshit

If you wanna get the same experience just go to the deepend of the pool or a pond and its the same exact shit just deeper

I repeat there is nothing cool in our unexplored oceans and aint nobody got time to find it out.

I do think it's odd that we aren't pouring more money into marine-focused studies and science groups as opposed to space exploration. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy the studies that NASA conducts and all that, but I'd like to know more about the ocean.
I mostly want to just see all the nasty weird shit we can find, and get terrified when some nasty malformed blob of teeth and spikes floats past a camera.

It's much easier to colonize space than to colonize the deep sea.

In space, there's only 1atm of pressure difference between your ship and the void outside. In the ocean, you hit that level of pressure difference at just 33 feet down, and in the deepest parts of the sea floor, you're looking at 1,000atm of pressure.

The sun dying is such a long time away that it is more reasonable to imagine something coming from the unexplored depths of the seas to destroy us before the sun becomes a problem.

If we can build a ship that can reach into space I'm pretty sure we would be able to make another one which can withstand the oceans immense pressure
>>
>>127490389
I agree, whether it be a new organism that we can study, or maybe some undiscovered resource deposit to exploit, it'd probably be worth it. I'm sure it would be cheaper too, but a lot of ocean based research is private-sector anyway, which means we don't always get to find out about whatever it is they find, if anything at all.

I honestly think that is the reason. They don't want to awaken any Biblical creatures.

We all know the ocean has more than enough minerals to make it worth our while. Maybe they don't want undersea mining operations turning coastal cities into the gold rush. Imagine the results of large scale deep sea fracking on ocean life.
