If he got a class A misdemeanor or a felony then I wouldn't feel too confident he isn't going to jail unless he's got a really good lawyer. County jail isn't that bad at all. People really don't fuck with you as much because they are only there on a short term basis and don't wanna go to prison. If he gets over a year for his sentence then I'd start to worry.

On a serious note OP a friend was doing some short time in a Massachusetts county jail.
A friend of his from somewhere out west sent him a pic he had of the two of them at a party.
His friend is in a motorcycle club and was wearing his club colors. My friend was wearing a flannel shirt with the same colors on it in the pic.
When they checked the incoming inmate mail, they saw the pic, labled my Friend a gang member and spent the rest of his stay in solitary confinement.
So if the guards think he's in a gang he'll probably be sent to segregation.
