You yankees probably aren't aware the first tv broadcasts were state sponsored. As were the first channels. They were paid for by taxes in the shape of a tv "license."

The BBC license "Fee" is currently £145.50 per year. (about 200 bucks?) If you have ANYTHING that can recieve tv broadcasts you are required to have a license.

Remember the old tv capture cards you could buy for your 486 PC? THEY needed a license too.

Also, if you can get BBC IPlayer they're hoping to charge you the fee for that too. But so far I don't think they're winning that argument.

They will call you on "secret phone" which basically makes it impossible for your average joe to trace the call without contacting the cops. Whenever you see this type of call, kill music or speakers. Even if you really are not watching TV, it increases your chances being sent a bill even if you say no if they hear background music/video noise.

3. They will and can send you a bill just to test you. (And to fund their libshit communist crap). Dispute it immediately. 99% of the time the bill will be removed.

4. If they send people to come over. Never let them in. They are not allowed to. But these parasitic "visitors" thrive on your ignorance, and if you actually have a TV, even if you only use it as a computer screen. Can be enough to get you billed. If they say they can/have the right to come in to inspect, hold up your phone. Dial 112 and threaten to push the button to call the cops if they insist, tell them to immediately go away.

5. The burden of proof is always with them. Never with you. When you appeal the dumbshit lib bill. It's up to them to prove you have a active TV receiver.

I have this too. The "investigation" involves someone knocking on your door and immediately leaving. They have sent me letters that literally says "you are watching TV illegally - we want to help you watch TV legally." Like they assume you are watching tv illegally. Im sure that goes against Habeas Corpus or whatever the law is that "assumes you are innocent before being proven guilty" but would the police do a damn thing? no! Then we have propaganda channels where they try to propagate liberal things like homosexuality and interracial, also a form of advertising. Then we have basically political channels owned by political parties, also a form of advertising. Then we also have direct TV shows promoting tourism or directly selling apartments like Travel channel is full of lately. Then we have also advertisement of food/cooking where they directly mention restaurants, also a form of advertising. Then of course in-between ads also. Best documentaries are clean/professional you take a place, document it, that's it, you might see a narrator 3 times for 15 seconds, that's enough. Doesn't has to be that i need to watch same African national park every time, Africa is big. Then also the fact they promote ads in between news or even inside of news like that accidentally or mention sites like Facebook. That's all promotion. Even stickers in films about Coca Cola, that's also promotion/advertising. More and more of this exists every year as it seems. Also watch sport channel, they are covered in ads stickers, in past you could watch ski sport and there would be no ads sticks or very little, now every skier is covered in them, it's like cancer.
