I called the emergency services to go to our home. The paramedics had left when I arrived. I was given a lift by the police; they put on the siren and drove very fast. There were aqlso police were at our home when I arrived. They were looking after my child.
My wife had a heart attack and died in her sleep. I had to formally identfy her - it's the law.
I went to the bedroom and she was still. Her face was set. I touched her cheek and it was cold. I came downstairs and confirmed her identity. A formal process. The police were wonderful. They got me home quickly, looked after my child while they drove me home, and another chapter in life begins.

Being adaptable comes as needs must. I hope that doesn't sound callous. Life can be beautiful. And also a shit.
Wisdom is gained through experience. Having a 'thick skin' is an adaptation to circumstance.
Being kind, compassionate, generous is a given. Altruism is human nature.
