I don't think that christianity is worth saving, i think it's a very specific "Saviour" religion that initially won ground in the decaying Roman empire because it promised salvation in the next life, as the people could not have salvation in the earthly life, when it seemed that everything that they had known to be stable in the form of the Empire was collapsing around them.

I think that Christianity prevailed in the elite because they saw it as a useful tool to adopt as their own, obviously as a way to control and steer the masses. I think that abandoning traditional european cults and practices was a big mistake that caused much of the upheaval in Europe after the division and fall of the Empire in the west.

I think the West is stagnating right now with our current pseudo-religion of Human Rights, which took the place of christendom. A mere secularisation, disenchantment of christianity, but most of the universalist, egalitarian, proselytizing manias still live on, without the traditional morality that christianity still had.

Then you have the Day of Atonement and everybody will appear before the judgement seat of Christ, and finally Tabernacles, when we will all be brought into heaven. What is so amazing is all of the minute intricacies of these feasts reveal even more exquisite detail of Christ. The seasons of planting and harvest to tell the story of salvation. God is great.
