I attend the smallest bachelor granting university in the state of Michigan and we have two sports teams just to entice foreign students to come here. When I was in college we had African UN drop-offs that couldn't write a coherent sentence or form any sort of rational argument in debates yet in any courses they were in they magically were at the top of the class while everyone else was judged academically. The government had already given them $20 an hour jobs they weren't qualified for and they'd openly admit they were told they were going to college to justify these positions. Depending on your financial situation, find the degree that works best for you and then find an employer that offers tuition reimbursement and have them pay for whatever else you want/need.

The main difference between honors and masters is, honors does not give you a whole new degree, it just denotes if you have worked harder during your undergraduate degree. While on the contrary, masters is a separate degree itself. Masters degree is basically a four year degree. It is a separate, advanced and a higher degree. For normal Software Development, a Masters degree is not required and a bachelors degree would work fine. Fuck, if you are strapped for cash, an associates degree will get you a good job with tuition reimbursement and a decent salary and benefits.

I am 31, single and own a house. My disposable income after taxes, expenses, savings, IRA (etc), is around 40k. I put a lot more in to savings and my IRA than is needed but it will pay off massively if I live to enjoy it.

I do expect my income to rise substantially over the next few years as I move to replace the CTO

I got my degrees from Princeton. It cost me a fuck ton but through the help of my generous employers, most of it was not out of my pocket. I've paid about 75k total for education.
