I have no problem with APV's for cops. That part of the police militarization I am fine with.

What I am not okay with though is that police agencies are getting face masks, bayonets, and full auto rifles. Absolutely none of those items have ANY place in American law enforcement.

If it's the actual PMJB by Kurt Saxon, those are damn fine books.
A lot of the info is dated, but in a way that's what makes it powerful. You won't need a well-fitted lab or machine shop to pull off the stuff in those books.

Another great series is the Scientific Principles of Improvised Warfare and Home Defense, but this one requires more technical skills and better gear.
Still worth a read.

PS, if you ever see physical copies of PMJB 3 and 4 for cheap(under 40 bucks) grab them.

Armored vehicles are typically donated or acquired through federal assistance programs. When departments get apcs or mraps it's generally surplus that is otherwise going to get bought for it's weight in steal for recycling. So the department gets it for basically it's scrap value.

I suspect most departments would prefer a bearcat (the non military looking suvs pictured) because their are much cheaper to maintain, easier to drive, and go highway speed. Bearcats are built on heavy truck chassis so maintenance is comparable to a standard commercial truck. They are not armored for combat, which is fine because police don't have to worry about efps and landmines. Their armor is sufficient for small arms, but otherwise they drive and fix like a truck. The reason departments get mraps instead is a bearcat is 200k and an surplus mrap is basically given to them. Although I suspect these surplus armored carriers will prove go be white elephants in the long run.

Our bearcat took shotgun slugs to the passenger side window in a standoff a few years back with a cop sitting behind it. We also use the armor to evac people from houses in the area of a standoff.

I don't care what the police have, it doesn't matter at all. The police are an arm of the government, and the government has access to the military and national guard if they should choose.

What matters is when/how they use it. Police have guns on hand at all times which can easily kill a few people at a time. If the police only use them for reasonably highly dangerous situations that don't infringe on the constitutional rights of the citizens, it's fine.
