Brexit and Trump were both preceded with MONTHS of memes and threads and kek worship to deliver the final result. Wilders had barely even a fraction of the attention he needed, for a win that was even harder to achieve.
However it's not all the fault of over-confident /pol/acks, because the truth is that /pol/ has been SUCCESSFULLY INVADED for at least a month now. The number of slide threads, and hijacking of decent threads, has been stunning, and nobody seems to have been fighting against it. The mods seem to be doing little to nothing about it as well.
The invaders got smart, slide threads got less obvious and more enticing to the casual poster, and the surge in popularity and exposure here has meant a massive influx of newfags and casuals.
Have you noticed less slide threads now the Dutch election is over? Expect it to pick up again in the run-up to the French elections.

Look at Trump and how he campaigned. He flew across the country to do 2/3 speeches per day. And he did that for months. Wilders basically only started campaigning in the week before the election and only did one debate.
