Sessions outright said he will leave it up to the states, but that it is still Federal illegally. Pretty much means if you're busted by Feds you won't see leniency but if the State legalizes it he will not push to have the law changed. Untill Congress changes the law, which won't happen untill lobbying groups are either outlawed or severally restricted, it is illegal at the Federal level end of story.
