Has American politics ever been so hostile /pol/?

I'm 23, never really paid attention to politics until the past election and the entire political atmosphere feels so hostile.

>Leftists actively stage a coup and overthrow the American government and get rid of Trump

>Leftists also rioting, burning, assaulting any Trump supporters

Holy fuck it feels like there's going to be a civil war or something, has it ALWAYS been this fucked up /pol/?
>>
>>110873012
It's the most hostile that I've ever seen, but I wasn't alive during Vietnam. I don't think we've quite reached that level yet.

The left has been in power for decades. They want a one-government system, where they rule. They've caused wars, work with the EU/UN and others to do so. They want to fundamental change the way the world works. These are the same people that pushed "political correctness" and then funded/founded ISIS/others.

Right now they are threatened. Trump won, and most of his administration wants to end the corrupt globalists and expose the giant sex ring (A tool used by globalists to get people to cooperate with them). Doing so would END the left, and the globalist movement. They're threatened by the 2018 elections, where Republicans can win more power and if they do it would guarantee a Trump 2020 re-election. 8 years of republicans would also undo the majority of work they have been doing.

Be clear about one thing; liberals view you as an object, not a human being.

No, this is new.

This is the first time since the 1960's that the leftist indoctrination is starting to fail. Leftist culture is losing. Their ideals are being questioned or rejected by society completely.

Usually republicans are a bunch of cucks who pander to liberals, even if they win an election. Conservatives just keep bending to leftists every time they get more liberal.

This is the first time we've politically and culturally outright said "Yeah fuck everything liberals believe, we're doing the complete opposite. White Christian culture is the best. Third worlders suck. Build a wall. Islam sucks. LGTB movement sucks. Social programs suck. First black president sucks."

There IS a civil war, happening right now. It's not a physically violent war, but it's a culture war and a war of ideas.

I know you all want to freak out like the world is ending just because some anarchists lit a trash can on fire, but the things going on today are actually fairly tame. There literally used to be fist fights on the Senate floor. Yes, elected official Senators fought so fiercely over laws that they would start punching each other. If that wasn't enough, they'd walk into the back yard and have a pistol duel. Today since the floors are video taped they have to put on some level of decorum.

Also if you think these protests in the street are bad, keep in mind it used to be normal for angry mobs to break into a politician's home and tar and feather him. Possibly kill him.

The stuff going on today is pussy shit. We are not in a prelude to civil war.

When the left is out of power they fight tooth and nail. You're a little too young to remember 2001 before 9/11. After the attack, it was considered "unamerican" to go against Bush, but they were doing this stuff for a whole 9 months. They continued it when the Iraq war went sour and picked it up alot after the housing crisis. The left has always been feral, because they are by and large animals to begin with.

No.

Trump is pretty much the first president since JFK that hasn't been under control of the Jews. What you're seeing is Jews literally dumping money to create domestic disturbances similar to what happened in Russia and Germany in the 1910s. Something like 75% of them voted for Hillary, including all the neocons.

America is in full fuck you mode and I'm loving it
>>
>>110873012
I'm almost 30. The Bush years were pretty fucking hostile, but facebook wasn't around back then.
>>
Americans have been divided since the 60's at least, it's just become way more apparent since the last election, this was inevitable.
>>
>>110873387
Damn, what caused such a huge polarization? I'm assuming Obama had something to do with it?
>>
>>110873012
The 60s were more divided than this - there have been a few random shootings, but no groups consistently organizing bombings like the Minutemen or protests going way south like Kent State.

Also keep in mind the kind of media that's shoved in your face every day. Your facebook wall is either Huff Po articles titled "Trump just did THIS to DESTROY American values" or Breitbart articles titled "Leftists Admitting they HATE True Americans." Unfortunately, the internet has created a platform where it's extremely easy for people to only consume media that validates their pre-conceived beliefs which (usually) are not true or half true.

It's a mix of growing social inequality (driven by income and wealth inequality, genuine racism is so rare now discussing race has become a weird proxy for actually talking about class issues) and that people can easily construct an echo chamber where their beliefs are never challenged. Objectively, quality of life and safety have never been better for any society at any point in time, but it's easy to make it appear that things aren't that way.
>>
>>110875089
It was mostly "Lol Bush, what an idiot!", that was in a time where SJW's weren't really a thing and neither was social media.
>>
>>110873012
This is nowhere near the level of hostility that the Black Panthers created. The Black Panthers used to go around raping women(blacks mostly) and set a lot of stereotypes for Black people.
>>
>>110875089
The Bush years weren't nearly as culturally divided. Nearly everyone uniamously hated Bush. Trump is different because he does have half more-or-less of the support of the American people.

People I've known for decades and pretty much grew up are against me now, because I'm pro Trump whereas they have turned into full blown Communist faggots. They actually voted for Ron Paul during 2012 but switched over to Bernie the last election. What I've noticed is that these assholes have also lost at life through their bad decisions so that's where the cultural divide seems to shift from. Those who are so in debt that they need the gov to bail them out and those who are still self-efficient to the point where Trump sounds more to your liking because his policies are undoing the mess that King Nigger exasperated.
>>

Trump has lower approval ratings and higher disapproval ratings on day 9 than what took Bush over a thousand days to achieve.

Also remember, only 25% of the population voted for him and he lost the popular vote by 3 million. So he's starting off way worse than Bush, but he does have Republican support generally, but his approval rating sinks everyday.

Something to keep in mind with that is only about 25% of the population considers themselves Republicans, and about 29% are Democrats. Republicans are often more likely to vote and get active in politics, so while it seems like he has support of half the country, it's more that he has support of a very outspoken and well represented fourth.

Bush Jr. years were pretty divisive, but nothing like Trump has been. The left's extremism has been increasing for decades though, it's only a matter of time before they start trying to kill people on a large scale.

>>110876224
Yes, Obama has been shitting on everything the right stands for repeatedly. I'm sure it's waaay more polarized now because with Trump's rise to power there were a lot less lukewarm conservatives, being for deportation and being called racist was no longer a huge negative.

the right is usually a lot more subtle about their resentment of the political left when it's in power.

The left is usually more vocal and preachy.. that being said, I've seen the left triggered this hard at the end of the bush administration, but where they're at now, 2 weeks in, is ridiculous...

It took them 5 years of Bush become what they were at the anti-war protests (which were just communist/cultural marxist gatherings.)

If they keep this up, I think they're going to blow their load. The public isn't as naive about them as they were in the past. Before the louder they screamed, the more they got. Now people are just used to them whining and preaching and the average person who looks at their political movement objectively thinks they're freaks.

There's no move to reform them either. They're seriously going with the identity politics angle and they're just trying to legitimize every freakshow as a "Civil rights" movement instead.

A lot of statistics traditionally described in terms of race (crime, college graduation rate, etc) also work for economic status. Minority groups historically have less means to begin with, so the left focuses on bringing them up by increasing access to things like education for those groups.

Unfortunately, this leaves out poor whites who are in just as bad a situation as poor blacks, native americans, etc. While the left has good intentions in supporting programs that increase access to education for people of color and women, they leave out a huge demographic of people who also need that help, but are ignored because of the color of their skin.

It's a weird choice, but makes sense if you consider the history of the US. Here, being poor is an individuals fault (when really the likelihood of wealth has more to do with family history than anything). The left substituted race and gender, things that nobody can say are the fault of anything but genetics, to try to assist the poor.

This is why there was such a strong overlap between Bernie and Trump supporters - Bernie ditched traditional race-based rhetoric and attacked the problem at its source: class. Trump's entire campaign was sticking it to wealthy elites and bringing jobs back to disenfranchised classes. They were giving the same message, just presenting very different means to achieve the same goal.

U.S. Politics is my new favourite TV show.

>>
>>110873012
I'm an oldfag. I've been watching politics since Carter. The hostility came close at times, it's been a cycle - Bush gets elected, the left lose their minds, Clinton gets in, the right loses their minds, etc.

But no, I don't remember anything close to this. Even the Gulf War protests weren't this bad.

But, there was never so much at stake, as right now. This is the death throes of Globalism. This is fighting for their lives - and they're losing. They thought they had everyone brainwashed enough to accept it, but they were sadly and pathetically mistaken.

I honestly think we're entering a new Victorian Age. The pendulum is overdue to swing back, and it's got a lot of arc to cover. The excess and degeneracy of the 60's hit it's extreme, and it's all downhill from here, for them.

I honestly think that Hillary failing to win will be THE defining moment of this century, it's the moment that changed everything.

A new Victorian Age will be good, and bad - but it will be better than the Brave New World Hillary threatened.

There were a lot of protests when George W. Bush was president. First it was the "not my president" chants because of Florida and Al Gore getting a bigger popular vote. The protests were really annoying with Bush but the chimpouts didn't start happening until Obama got elected.

A good portion of america woke up. Apparently Voting for a Black or a Woman is not the only reason for voting. I think people looked at other countries and their status and asked themselves if they wanted that.

This is not normal per se, but to be fair, the last 12+ years have not been transparent. There was a mass brainwashing, and you are seeing the effects of the brainwashing when they don't get their way. Blame whoever you want, but feel free to present these dissenters with logic and they will screech and call you a racist.

Take the Yuri Pill. Tell me that it is not happening now:

>>
>>110887288
Totally this. It's as if people are slowly forgetting that this is about Globalism, and thinking this is about Left vs Right. Globalists have had this planned for DECADES, in tight collusion, across Europe, America, AUS, NZ, all over. They have dug their fingers deep into the control of global monetary systems, corporations, power structures, all to pull off the New World Order, and it is collapsing in front of their eyes. It's an amazing time to be alive and witness this. And it's the most intense political time I've witnessed--I'm not young.

I think it's that due to our current system, Republican and Democratic candidates cannot win unless they purposely try to polarize the vote. It was also a lot of influence from the civil rights clashes, too - some speculate that MLK was killed because he was against the protests, and he was the one guy who could have shut it down. I don't wholly discount that idea.

There are defintite parallels - the BLM riots were reminscient of the Watts riots. The Trump protests are similar to the sit ins and Vietman protests. But back then, the media wasn't part of the protest, and society at large was shocked and offended and angry about it - we've been brainwashed to accept the Trump Tantrums as normal.

This is just the start. Once laws start making their way through Congress and onto his desk, that's when the hammer is coming down on their heads.

My gut feeling is Trump is going to stun the world senseless with his leadership. They'll have no choice but to follow.
