Is it possible to print off pepakura (.pdo) files at places like Kinkos or Staples?
My printer is garbage, and I don't want to waste ink if I need to print out something important later.

Yes. Both have online services where you can submit your documents online and have them printed at a local store for you to pickup. Though their systems does not except PDO files, you can save the PDOs as PDFs and have those printed.

Right, .PDO only open in Pepakura Designer/Viewer and your local Kinkos, Staples and library wont have that program installed.
So you can conver the files to .PDF like >>552666 said.
Failing those you could printscreen the pages in Pepakura and saved them as image files and print those, just make sure they are the right size. It's janky but could work.
Can do you have them printed on different types of paper too? Serious question.

Yes, they have an assortment of color, coat, weight. Just visit their website and check their services, it's all on their page.
