idk if this really fits with /po/ vibe, i have two "sculptures" in this format, a deer and a dragonfly, but i've been looking on making an unicorn for my gf, but i cant find schematics, blueprints, tutorials or anything of the sorts, and im a legit amateur, does anyone have a diy tutorial, or schematics or anything?

other similars that i have found

another
>>547788
op here, this is as far as i could find, any help?
>>547788 that is called kirigami if i dont fail search for kirigami to find things like that
>>547815
That's more than I could find. There are plenty templates for deer heads on pinterest and some other sites, but all links to the unicorn were only photos of the finished craft, and some links to vendors who sell it. Either way, your picture looks almost good enough for doing a vector trace, just hope that the proportions are correct. I might give it a try when I get bored this weekend.
>>547816
Yeah, basically it's modular kirigami. This particular "method" however is called sliceform, or 3d sliceform, so that's a better keyword to search for.
>>547817
Another term you can find those sliceforms under is "slide-together puzzle". Good luck!
Suggestion, use post No.547815 on photoshop and redraw.

about 0 skills on photoshop, is it easy?
past the photo become background. use line or pen fellow the line from photo. Although may no perfect, but do the job.
>>547821
until someone apĀ“pears with the file to save my day, thats the best option, thanks a lot!
>>547822
I ask the same model in here for years, but no lucky.
As I said >>547817 I'll trace it with Inkscape later today (it's 5:30am here, need some sleep first).
The only problems is, the quality of the photo is pretty bad, so dunno if I get the details right. Another issue are the slots where you slide the pieces together; their width needs to be adjusted depending on the thickness of the cardboard you're using, so probably I'll go for a single cut line instead of a "real" slot, then you need to adjust that according to the material you want.
>>547830
if you do this i'll be forever grateful!
>>547830
forgot to thank you in advance haha
>>547831
>>547832
No worries, this will make a nice gift for my niece. And I bought a cutplotter earlier this month, so I'm interested in collecting such templates anyways. You can thank me when I'm done _and_ when the pieces actually fit together. Come back later today, first I'll need some sleep, and a decent vector takes a little time too - especially when the source picture is so blurry.
>>547833
haha, i was thinking about gifting my girlfriend one of these made of colored acrylic with rainbow colors on the horns, i think it would look amazing, tho i'd have to try with a small scale one made of paper first haha
>>547834
just wanna add that i found a program that helps you make your own designs "123D Autodesk Maker" or something like that
welp, this turns out to be a bit more tedious than I thought... since it's a photo and not a proper scan, the picture is a bit skewed, and parts which are supposed to be mirrors of each other aren't exactly similar
Alright, here's a first version. I haven't tested to build it yet, let's hope the slots match like they should.
And here's a PDF version. So far I was too lazy to spread it over multiple pages though.
As you can see, it's far from perfect yet. For example, the parts aren't exactly symmetric. Might do some little fixes later today or tomorrow, but for now that's it, gotta do some other stuff.
ok, there's at least one "bigger" mistake in the top left section (the distances between the 3 slots of the oval thing top right, I think I accidentally dragged one of them a few pixels), so if you want to use this version I'd suggest you keep that in mind when cutting. dunno, measure the distances between the slots and adjust it yourself, I'll upload a fix later. Have fun.
>>547788
I made one of these out of wood a few years back based off a template from a thread here, it turned out to be a pretty nice piece.
>>547902
>>547902
I already have this one, i have a deer one that i found even better than that one, well, apart from the horns, if you want i can upload the files here
>>547902
just realised that i dont have the files anymore, but i can scan the template
>>547902
>>547912
>>547913
this is what mine's look like
>>547849
I intend to fix it, and will post it here, promise. Meh, I already promised to do it over the weekend but something other came up. If you have some patience, check again the next days. If you don't, check the distances between the cuts yourself and adjust them a little, they are definitely not perfect yet. Would be a shame to waste good material for a subpar printout.
>>547916
i do intend to wait, hahaha, thou i'll try later today to make it using your template, but just to see how it turns out, only whem i'm sure it'll be good I'll get the good quality stuff and laser cut
>>547917
The outer shapes should be alright, but the slots where the pieces connect need proper distances, obviously, or they won't match and skew your model. I'd cut out the basic shapes, then layer them over each other, and cut a couple slots in one go, or at least mark the proper positions. Hope you get what I mean... Either way, have fun with the model. And your gf hehe.
>>547918
I got it, and I will, hahaha, thanks! thanks in advance for the adjustments (i probably wont see them right when you psot haha)

> if you want i can upload the files here
Please do that.
>>547949
here it is, my deerest deers, the template that helps to build is stretched, but if you want, you can use it instead of the sheets i scanned
>>547949
and now the deer head, the thing is, the sheets were bigger than a regular a4, so the first sheet need 2 different scans, and the other 3 sheets needed 4 scans each, you'll have to stitch them together, i would stitch them if i knew how to do it properly =p this is the template, and, as always, its stretched, you can find all images in the link below as not to flood the thread

This is the D-torso one that I found, also got a coat hanger deer somewhere.

if you can do MLP stuff you will get loads of autistic etsy bucks
