Looking for some ideas. I'm trying to build a papercraft of Eraqus' Keyblade for a cosplay and was planning to reinforce with pvc pipes, but I'm a bit lost on this part cuz there's no easy way to reinforce this weak point. Ideas?

I refer to the octagon shape in the middle. I can stick a pipe through it and a pipe from the top for the actual sword (key?) part, but I can't really connect them

Fill the inside with fiberglass resin?

I found this, I think it might be useful in your predicament
Good luck! :)

Some ideas-
1/4" steel or aluminum rod... epoxied into pvc with aid of foam or cardboard bushings. Can bend with vise grips, vise, two large nails in a piece of wood, etc. Cut with hacksaw.
Split pvc into four sections going up thru, using heat to soften and form plastic.
Pay machine shop $3500 to machine the handle of aluminum.
A carving friendly hardwood such as cherry or maple would make a very nice handle. You could do most of the rough-in with coping saw, jeweler's saw, band saw, or scroll saw. If you can afford a small cheap bandsaw, it will likely change your life. Finish with chisels, knives, and or rasps.
