Looking for Canon 4K cameras for cinematography in the $1.5-2.5k range. Is it true the 5d mark III can be hacked to produce 4K video similar in quality to the Mark IV? If so that's a $1000 savings.
>still using Canon for video in current year
get an a7R II or GH5 already

Is the GH5 better for video than the A7SII?

No, there are very few cameras that will produce better 4k than the a7s2. Even the canon 5dmk4 has shit 4k compared to even the sony a6300

I noticed this guy does all his shooting on the gh5

His footage is great. The a7s2 also looks great, they use it for RSD vids

Why would you specify Canon?

Canon wants you to buy EOS Cxxx series to get proper 4K. Everything else is purposefully gimped - e.g. 5DIV has a 1.7x crop factor in 4K mode so you might as well shoot meme4/3 instead. In fact, that's what you should probably do.

The gh5 is a fantastic camera, the footage I've seen from it is great. I just personally prefer the sony cameras because they have a wider range of bodies and better 3rd party support. But the gh5 is still a great video camera

I've always liked their color science
When I bought a nikon d3100 back in the day I traded it for a t2i because I preferred the colors
My favorite colors are on vice documentaries and videos, apparently they use the c300 which is way out of my budget.

Much better in low light.
