>>3137939
i wanted the stuff to be in focus. i didnt want the street lights and headlights blurry
>>3137912
ur going to need a tripod if you want to shoot at night
>>3137946
thats the only way to keep the lights not blurry? sorry if these are dumb questions. im new at this
>>3137912
are you the anon that has a big dick. you choose one, having a big dick or being good/talented at something. you can't have both, that's not fair.
>>3137949
when you shoot at night the camera needs to gather more light. that means the shutter stay open longer. the longer the shutter stays open the easier it is for blur to be introduced. mounting on a tripod and activating the shutter remotely will allow you to get those long exposures without any movement of the camera.
>>3137957
thank you. im learning sensei
>>3137944
Your shutter speed is to slow. Either use a faster shutter or a tripod.
And don't use landscape mode on the camera dial when light is low. It selects a low shutter speed.
Composition-wise it's not a bad photo. The lines look good although a bit awkward having the lamppost on the right cut out.
>>3138051
alright thnx. i have a lot more fromn my shoot but they were all really out of focus like nothing was in focus
>>3137967
i held down the shoot button... maybe that kept the shutter open?
>>3138235
Nope. The button only triggers the release of the shutter, not the duration.
In low light, you can set a safe shutter speed in TV mode. 1/30 is good.
The camera will take care of the rest.
In good light, I suggest P mode and to focus on composition.
>>3138245
im shooting 99% in low light like the pic above
At night in particularly, you have to choose what you want to be in focus and things which are closer and further away are liekly to be out of focus.
What I do it point the camera at what I want to be in focus, half-press the shutter button, wait for the beep or dots to flash and then fully press the shutter after recomposing the shot.
Daytime is easier as the aperture will get smaller which makes more of the picture in focus. Generally, 1/60th of a second is where you can still get a sharp photo without a tripod.
>>3138284
so the pic above as example i would point at posters on wall > half click> then reposition cam like pic a bove and full click?
im assuming all very quickly?
>>3138295
That's it assuming you want the posters in focus. The exposure and focus will lock for as long as the button is half press.
There might be a button with with you can lock focus and exposure too (exposure is often called AEL). You won't have to rush.
With a tripod you could use a F16 aperture (small) and get it all in focus but the shutter speed could be several seconds.

>>3138373
Just like college it's about being able to distill the pertinent information from a larger lecture. No one channel will give you everything but this one is a good start.

Ok here on mobile. The half click to focus then move shot to centre doesn't work. It takes the shot as soon ask press it. Hmmm I'll have to look at my footage tonight when I get home. I set the dial to p... only thing I changed. Before it was on auto
so I shot tonight and set the dial to p and everything is grainy and shitty ill post a few pics. on the flip side this biker let me take some shots of him during the day

So what is the benefit of having a lower shutter speed or a higher ISO if it just degrades quality?
Also by low and high I'm referring to the far right settings in your pic so apologies if I mixed the high/low.

dude how do i get shots like the first one i posted? becuase i set my camera to p meaning low shutter? cause i hate all these pics i took tonight
>>3138516
basically when you're doing night shots the lens needs to stay open a lot longer to collect enough light. the longer it stays open the easier it is for things to blur. this is why you NEED a tripod for these shots. you will never be able to the camera steady enough by hand. even pressing the physical capture button is enough to blur the shot so people use a remote to activate the shutter.
>>3138523
ok :( should i just keep it on auto. maybe ill get shots like my first one in thread
>>3138524
i'd start with daytime photography first desu. why do you only shoot at night?
>>3138525
because thats when i working, i barely get daylight. also thats when i find interesting things to shoot or things that interest me. The city changes at night
>>3138528
so shoot on your days off. keep your camera with you and try to find interesting subjects as you go about your day. take lots and lots of photos, they're free and can always delete them later.
>>3137912
pick a focal point draw your eyes to something
>>3138308
You're correct, but his camera has a small sensor. He does not need f/16.
Even f/2 or f/2.8 will be enough to get almost everything in focus.
Better to let the camera take care of it for now.
>>3138507
You have exposure compensation setting changed from 0 to - something. Thats why your pictures are dark.
The ones with unwanted flash: The flash is set to auto.
Go in the camera setting and turn the flash off.
You might not be able to turn it off when the dial is set to Auto (green camera) mode.
In other modes, you can control when flash goes off.
>>3138516
The camera needs to let in a certain amount of light to get the correct exposure.
ISO, Shutter, Aperture is a balance.
Slower shutters only degrade quality when the camera is not held steady.
