My sister is considering buying a Nikon p900 (Which is like $700 canadian dollars) because her friend took pic related with it.
Could I have a less expensive alternative, and other things that I should tell her regarding photography? Because I dont think you need such an expensive camera to have similar results. She's only 14 and I dont want her to waste so much money on something she wont necessarily need.

nikon d3300.
Entry level DSLR. Still takes really great pictures.
My girlfriends pic, not mine. I'm more of a canon fan because I do video, but if I was into primarily stills, I'd definitely have fun toying around with a d3300 and kit lens.
But, I'm assuming this thread is bait.

craigslist.
search dslr.
find a used one.
mkae sure it has full retard mode, manual, aperature priority, shutter priority, and program.
You dont need fancy shit to start taking photos.
upgrade as your knowledge increases and you fet more comfortable with photography technique and basics.

honestly any money spent on a 14 year old female will be utterly a waste.
show her some better photography, pique her interest, tell her she could take vastly better photos.
It's just a shitty golden hour portrait. Get her a nikon d80, a cheap thrift f-mount 50mm 1.8 and a photography 101 book.
post pics of da sis now that i've saved your parents 500$
thanks, all have been helpful, can always rely on the board experts

She likes bokeh, a second hand 5dc will be half the price and give thrice the bokeh with a nifty fifty.
