Are low fstops just a meme that came about because of digital photography and auto focus?
Like pre autofocus did people use the wide open fstops much or did everyone mostly shoot like f/8 all day every day?
Max aperture was the meme to end all memes in the 70's and 80's, even moreso than it is today. SNR is a much bigger selling point nowadays.
