I'm a guy. How do I take a photo where my face (and I guess the rest of me) looks less fat?
I'm like 5'9" 168 lbs. Lenses I have to work with are a 35mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 90mm, 150 mm, and a 24-84 mm zoom.
50-90mm. Too long will actually broaden your face. You want some perspective distortion, but not too much.
Drop your jaw down and forward. People always stand up straight for a photo, which gives you a double chin. By sticking your chin down and forward, it tightens your neck and creates a shadow under your jawline which creates definition.
Mug shot, dead-on posing is never never flattering. Turn into the camera at a 3/4 angle. Or crouch. Look at a bunch of photos by great photographers and see how they hide bulk.

I think I got a better one. Instead of taking a head shot I took a waist up shot with a baseball bat in a hitting stance. The 3/4 angel of my face and the looking to the side of the camera as well as the angel and the 5:30 lighting through the clouds helped.
