I've a trip planned to Romania and I'm trying to decide what lenses to take.
I have:
d750
20 1.8g
50 1.8g
85 1.8g
100 2.8 series e
135 3.5
180 2.8 af
I'm tempted to take the 20 and 85 only, but I'd be missing the long range of the 180. the 50 is also my most used lens of the lot (just got the 20)
what combo would you take, and why?

Obviously 20 and 50, other than that take the 135 or 180 if you can.

24-70 + 70-200
Primes are inefficient travel companions

This pretty much

A 3 prime setup is best for travel. A widy, a middy and a telly.
A good prime setup is a set of lenses times their focal length by 2. Eg. 24mm, 24 x 2 is around 50, 50mm, 50 x 2 is 100, 100mm.
OP's set up is limiting. 20mm being his only wide he definitely needs to bring it, the 50mm being the next in line he definitely needs to bring it, the next in line would be the 100mm which I think he should bring as opposed to the 85, 135, and 180.
That said, I would prefer bring 85 than 135 if OP doesn't wanna bring 100.

A 28mm f/2.8 & a 50mm f/1.4. Do panorama or crop if you feel like you're stuck with your focal length.
A 35mm is great for handheld night shots in the streets.

I dont undestand those people that carry three lenses with them when they travel. A 35mm fix is all you need

I'm super tempted to bring just the 20 and the 85 and be done with it, but I'm afraid to miss the 50 and the long range
>>3103790
I took an A7II and a GR to Europe and I ended up just leaving the Sony in the hotel room because I got so tired of walking around with it.
Keep your kit light.
Ok, I would take the 20mm1.8, 50mm1.8 and the 180mm2.8. why? other lens like 85, 100 and 135 are in the between of tele and wide-angle lenses. If you want to take some portrait of people from Romania, I would bring the 85mm1.8, but as far it isn't your main concern, the 50mm1.8 is better because you can use it for other purposes besides portraits or candids.
I'm traveling to London on November and I was thinking on taking the a 28-70 and a 50 1.4 only.
I was also thinking on taking a 24 2.8 but I'm not sure yet.
Any advice on my case?
>>3103936
why do you want a 50 if you've got a 28-70. Take something you don't have covered like a 70-200
20 and 85. You can do the same with an 85 as you can with a 50, and telephoto lenses are pointless anyway.
>>3103939
I was thinking on it because of the aperture, not because of the focal length
>>3103875
yeah, I'll be staying with friends so I want to be ready for portraits (chicks are super hot in there). I might consider the 20+50+85 and put the 135 in a pocket or something.
>>3103945
> and telephoto lenses are pointless anyway.
elaborate
>>3103790
sell everything and buy 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8
doesn't matter. your photos are going to suck regardless.

THIS
Carrying a load of primes for travel is retarded. It's the bag lady equivalent of gear faggotry.
>>3103964
haha, asshole
>>3104036
>walking around with a FF DSLR and a giant tele zoom
>being this much of a tourist
>>3103936
Took a 24 and a 50 to London, didn't miss anything. Just make sure your stuff is kinda weather proof, because London.
>>3103836
>A widy, a middy and a telly.
Are you fucking 80 years old?
>>3104537
>carry three primes
>be a stuck up hipster
And in case you didn't know that the prime is also giant and looks like a tourist-zoom to anyone else.

an 85 captures pretty much all you need, if you need to, you can move closer. :p

cool, good to know you cant take photos
