Where / how do you all get your film processed? I'm looking into buying a film camera but it looks like a darkroom setup at home will cost more than the camera and some film to start off with...
>>
color a cheapo store.
b&w i finally process it myself ;));)
>>
Don't do b&w if you can't do it yourself.
Don't get color done at walgreens/costco/other convenience stores.

There are still places around that can process professionally for cheap. I send batches of 10ish here: http://www.citizensphoto.com/processing/

Yeah I've always had so-so experiences with drugstore and other 1 hour photo places since the people who work at the photo counter are high school students who are dead inside and don't actually know what to do other than pushing some buttons. At least with a dedicated camera store, the high school students aren't dead inside and they know what they're doing.

I bet a full darkroom setup + camera + lenses + 1year worth of film + flatbed scanner is gonna be cheaper than a FF camera.
>>
>>3083994
Depends on the FF camera, because an A7, 5Dii, 6D, and D700 can be found for under a grand.
>>
>>3083996
Oh and I guess the A900 and A850 too. I always forget about those.
>>

depends ... I do B&W myself and sometimes do the same with colour especially if cross processing. Otherwise I use The Lab in Vancouver BC
>>

I'm going for a Canon EOS 1 (I already have a shit ton of EOS lenses)
>>3083987
Even if they're not great surely you can Ps the scans? Unless they give you shitty jpegs that might as well be shit
>>
>>3084156
Yeah they normally give you shitty scans where very little can be done in post. I think it's so you can't do your own prints, so they want you to buy their overpriced and low res scrapbook ones.
>>
I develop B&W and C-41 myself. I send E-6 to a local lab to be developed.

In Lightroom. I use digital negatives.
