It's only been an NLE for a year and has only just now become an actual rival to FCPX and Premiere. Expect it to be another few years before n00bs catch on and it becomes the standard. Apple and Adobe are going to have to pull some spectacular shit out the bag to compete.

I've been trying looking for one too, started with pitivi, super buggy and shitty. Tried lightworks because muh movies but it feels too Jewish and can't into 1080p export with the latest version. I don't want to pirate. Really liking cinelerra-cv as it has a decent compositing engine and you can precisely control input frame x and y position and zoom via curves and keyframes. It seems to have trouble with live render but so far it's just noisy/laggy (maybe my PC is too slow) and the actual render output turns out fine. Have not tried out it's built in effects or color features yet but this feels like the one I'm going to use. Also has pretty good motion tracking.

The NLE part functions very similarly to Premiere. But the audio mastering and grading tools are on another level.
