I've got a really odd photography related question. Does anyone know how they make or even what the textured finish on is called?
It's a distinctive pattern and I have no idea how they do it.

They include a texturing agent in the paint. It's a lot like the textured finishes for things like garage floors.

It's not but it looks like vulcanite.

Wouldn't be surprised if it is vulcanite and if it had asbestos in it
>made in thailand
>sonys are notorious for overheating so it makes sense to put asbestos in the materials
I want to say it's a wrinkle finish, but it doesn't look coarse enough. Just calling it powder coated works.

Google "Sigma crinkle finish"

Sigma have the worst finish out there. Only the new ART series lenses are half decent. I had one of the old 400mm lenses with the finish that turned into tar after a few years. I had to completely dismantle it and then sandblast the entire lens back to metal to get rid of the glue like surface.
Closest I've gotten is this https://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/PTB-2486/GRANITE-BLACK/
Looks like it might be a powder coating system?
