I love this maymay
I hope he finds out some day. His fickle ego won't be able to handle it. And then he will make a response to /p/ video or do something equally stupid

jason, pls.
you're not going to force this into a meme when it is just low quality bait.
From an actual YELP review:
"And last but not least of all the shots to miss- HE MISSED OUR FIRST KISS after we were pronounced man and wife- probably the most important shot of a wedding right?? Nope we didn't get it. According to Jason, someone stood up and blocked the shot."
I guess he thought his Sony sensor was gonna catch it for him :^)

He went off on me once for saying his youtube video looked a bit dark (underexposed). He thought I was talking about his weight or something, but I literally implied no such thing.
>>3068372
With 20FPS he'll surely catch it now!

I saw Jason Lanier at a camera store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Sony cameras in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Figures he'd fit right in. considering we're all faggots here.
Except he has more good photos than average.
So I pop into /p/ every few months...what's the deal with Jason Lanier getting hella hate now? Not that I'd try to defend him, he's annoyed the piss out of me for years, but just curious why he became a meme in the time I wasn't here.
>>3068603
Not sure what exactly triggered it, but he epitomises what is wrong with the YouTube photography community and with photography as a whole.
He's also easily hateable due to the following:
>photos are incredibly bad, even the photos he takes today are horrible for a plethora of reasons
>he's a shill that is so shameless in his shilling
>most of /p/ can take a better photo than him
>he is obese
>he wears a fedora
>just generally very cringeworthy in the his behaviour and interactions with other human beings

>controlling light in photography, the art of controlling light.
>hurrrr he's bad.
This is why no one on here makes money, you don't practise photography, you just click your camera and click your latest meme filter.
>>3068696
using the scrim so close to the subject and have "fake" looking background? it should be a 20x20 scrim and a few meters away from the subject oh should have just use an ND gel instead.
>>3068701
>85mm 1.4 being shot wide open from half body distance
>oh you need the fine mesh to be at least 3m behind the subject for it to blur away completely.
So you've never used a sharp, long lens eh? Just fyi, on an 85 1.4 from 4m away, you're looking at less than 20cm depth being in focus, this mesh would be invisible not even 1m behind the subject.
And an nd filter lowers the light on the whole shot, the whole point of this product is to control the light between the subject and the background.
D-, Thanks for sharing your ignorance with the class though.

hahah first thing that came to my head too
"I had the most wonderful experience with Jason as my wedding day photographer. From the moment I contacted Jason, I felt grateful to have the opportunity to work with him. He is a consummate professional and has a wonderful personality. His talent and passion for his work effervesce. His work is truly ART. Jason is one of those people who make you feel completely at ease, and I was SO happy to trust him with the most important day of my life. I felt happy and confident throughout our shoot. All of my friends and family loved him and his crew. They still mention what an awesome photographer my husband and I had! I am so proud of the beautiful memories captured by Jason, that I looked forward to printing them out to send individual photos within my thank you cards that included special photos with the specific people we were sending the notes out to. He captured the most beautiful moments, and I couldn't have asked for more. There are so many wonderful highlights to mention about my experience with Jason, but to mention a few that would be most important to those looking for a photographer, here are my top 7 reasons why I love Jason:
1. Jason worked with our budget
2. He made my husband and I feel confident and comfortable
3. He exudes professionalism
4. Jason is more than a photographer, he is the most talented artist I've ever had the pleasure to work with
5. He is efficient! He gets the BEST shots exuding the emotion of the moments
6. He has amazing cutting edge equipment and a wonderful crew
7. Most of all, he is just incredibly TALENTED.
Because Jason was going to Africa days after my wedding, he made me a priority and processed my photos so I actually had them the day after my wedding!!! I couldn't believe it. Jason is the best best BEST."

three reviews down...
"So, my original review was posted 8 months ago. I just got an email from Mr. Lanier saying that he JUST saw my yelp review and then basically bribed me to write something that painting him in a better light in exchange for a training session for me.
His exact words; "... if you would like to reconsider your review of my business which does obviously have a negative impact on my business I would do whatever I can to help you in the training your seeking. I'm not looking to make money, I'm looking to fix a situation for a mutual benefit."

Is this his edit or troll?
Poe's law is fucking with me, the fringing and aberrations are killing me, jfc the clarity is brutal
Did these idiots pay for this cancer?
>>3069627
Yes they do. I've been to art walks before and seen entire collections of peoples landscape photography that looks just like this, and people are blown away by how it looks, not even joking. My dad even bought a magnet for the fridge that looks like this
>>3069712
This stuff I circled, he has to give zero shits to put this out there.

I'm not exactly sure what you're circling there? I know you're referencing aberations, but I just don't see any there to be honest
>>3070174
that's not aberration, I think it's call a "halo". It happens when you push the clarity slider to absurdity. Try that with any landscape, especially near the branches in the trees. Once you slide the clarity past 50 it becomes obvious. This edit makes me think his clarity is around 80-100. You don't even get this with absurd bokeh, it looks fake as hell
>>3070174
Not the same anon, but they're showing where there is poor sharpening and microcontrast.
>>3070191
Okay, makes sense. Yeah, that shot is shit. some of the worst processing I've ever seen. So bad, I would expect someone to do it ironically as a joke, not for a paid job
I like this edit.
>>3070174
this is what you get when you go too hard on the sliders in LR, especially when you overjuice the sky
>>3070169
honestly those halos are nowhere near as bad as the fucked up wood texture
>>3070297
It triggers me because I increase clarity when I edit my astro shots, this is similar to what I get before I do the very simple local brush adjustments that get rid of that halos. Literally takes all of about 30 seconds to get rid of halos, you have to give literally no shits about your work to leave them.
>>3068557
Can someone tell me what's wrong with this picture?
>>3070378
Do you not see the saturation?
Sure, if that's your taste, it just looks so far removed from reality it might as well be part of a video game
>>3070378
>>3070387
Also, blow it full it screen
>now I see it
It looks like it's folding in on itself, there are crests in troughs in the saturation, divided into vertical sections. Parts of it look extremely vibrant green, other parts look slightly duller yellowish. I'm not sure how or why this is happening, but it looks like 5 or 6 portrait shots merged into a panorama.
