I get that, but I'm wondering more about the composition of the lighting; I tried it myself & even with a uv flashlight the purple hues are too harsh and you can't wash it out with another light

they're probably heavily edited in PS or LR after, I mean you could get the effect raw from a fast exposure. There's probably 3 studio lights, and a medium sized blacklight shining on the subject in order to get the "natural" contrast. Maybe try adding a filter for purple and blue hues to your lens, a slight one in order to keep the fidelity of the UV paint.
