What are some instances in which overexposition is ok in photography? asking this as a newbie. For example, am I being ignorant by liking how this photo turned out and not scraping it?

Subject is correctly exposed in this shot, if anything it's a little under.

You can expose for your subject, not your whole shot.
>>
>>3058638
but, at least fucking focus mang, it's not hard.
Not a single one of these has your model in sharp focus.

If you're blind as fuck, use liveview and magnification or get a sony.
>>
>>3058656
Yeah I use glasses and I already adjusted the thing by the side but still most of my photos aren't perfectly on focus when they look like it through the viewfinder. I guess I'll have to use liveview instead.
>>
>>3058658
Google how to use autofocus in different situations

Bad eyesight is not an obstacle for autofocus
>>
>>3058660
>>3058660
Cool, I will. I'm saving up for a more recent lens (35mm) with autofocus, hopefully that helps a bit too.. the one I got with the camera only has manual AF.
>>
>>3058663
>manual AF
Everything you say is a contradiction.

Haha, my bad. It says AF but it doesn't focus automatically with my camera for some reason, it's a D5300. I remember reading I need a lens with AF-S (?)

AF-S or AF-P. Latter will probably require a firmware update. The AF-S 35mm DX is a lens you should own regardless though

There's an option on your camera to put a rangemeter in the viewfinder for manual focus. Go read your manual/google.

I see nopales and magueyes, I wonder where these were taken.
>>
>>3058682
Yeah, I'm eating tacos as I type this
>>
>>3058666
because the d5300 doesn't have an AF motor nor the lens, dumbnuts.
>>
>>3058666

superzoom strikes again
>>
>>3058666

Honestly, that lens is so slow, it might as well be manual anyway.

It's fairly sharp under 280mm.

>>
>>3058709
It's the only lens I've ever tried so I should be pretty impressed once I get a new one.
>>
>>3058755
Seriously, sell/return everything and get a sony, the evf will mean your shit eyesight doesn't fuck any photo you try to take without going full soccermom in liveview.
>>
>>3058956

Agreed, Sony is the perfect babby's first camera; no need to learn exposure, just fiddle until you like what you see. It's also nice and small and lightweight so you can lose the wrist wrap.

Once you grow up and gain man hands, muscle mass, and experience, you can handle something bigger and more complex.
