One time I went there I found a glass with a red liquid in there. I liked to think of it as real blood but in reality the location was often used for horror photo shoots. So on that day someone else probably had had some fun there before I arrived.

What I liked most about the hospital was its elevator. It had become stuck in the topmost level of the building. From the basement you could crawl through the metal scraps of wheelchairs and hospital beds and look upwards to see it hanging way up there.

Right across my street was a moderately sized military complex with barracks and some buildings containing kitchens, bathrooms and the likes. As a kid I went there. Then, later, it would become the place where I took my first photos. It was some kind of man-made and overgrown desert right in town. I felt like an alien visitor there. I knew the place but there was always danger connected to it. It was not uncommon to run into groups of people trying to beat you up or simply to walk into "natural" hazards like glass shards, nails or collapsing floors.

During that time people would often tell me my pictures looked like out of Silent Hill or SAW. Until then I hadn't even heard of those. I had just taken what was the closest thing I could photograph and then let my imagination do its work.
Of course, when I later played Silent Hill and watched SAW I did see the obvious aesthetic connection.

Sometimes the decaying buildings would produce very beautiful motives. In my years of wandering in those places I never moved something to a different place or destroyed something on purpose. I only took photos of the things as they were. All I did was putting filters on the images and then give them a framing through the title and the accompanying poems.

the first pictures, with the older camera, were awesome. The last ones weren't so interesting. I really dig the lo-fi style you got from the digital polaroid. The PP fit well too.
