I go back and forth on that. Sometimes it adds to a pic, sometimes it doesn't. I tend to view people on the street as faceless zombies that do nothing but get in my way, so portraying them this way sort of plays into that more than if I were to shoot their faces, which makes the picture more about them than it does the scene and its mood, which is what I'm really trying to capture.

Strangers are obstacles, friends are people. I shoot my friends' faces but don't like to post them here.

And to expand on that, with shots like this one, shooting his face if he were turned around here would have totally changed the pic to old guy walking away from a cool city, instead of how I see it now as old guy I can imagine as myself walking towards a cool city.

Shooting people and the things they're walking towards makes me able to transplant myself into the person I'm shooting and feel their anticipation as they're about to go wherever it is they're about to go. Shooting people head-on prevents me from being able to transplant myself into that person, since it becomes about them, and doesn't show where they're going so much as where they've been, which is much less interesting to me in most cases.

I liked the scene and lighting here but I had to take all these in the space of about 45 seconds cause some jackasses were sitting in the shop adjacent to this setting off their car alarms and yelling at me that this was private property and I couldn't be there.

I tricked them into thinking I was going to leave, but just spun the car around to get a couple rear shots. That made them really mad.

I'm adding a teeny bit of grain in LR, but also color noise reduction. Those were all high iso though so part of it is the sensor. When I'm home I can post the relevant settings and a comparison with them on/off.
