Hey, /p/, I come to you to ask for help or at least come knowledge.
I'm not nearly someone experienced with photography, but I'm pretty excited to start out with it, being in a third world shithole though, it's kind of impossible to get a camera, so I got one borrowed, it was a Canon Poweshot S3 IS (pic related)
So after putting the batteries on it and turning it on, all I can see it's black, like something was in front of the camera or as if everything was dark, but i can see the icons of the display.
Is something broken? Is there any way I could fix this?

Do you have memory card?

Yes, it's there in the camera, also checked the gallery and they're just black as well.
I can see all menus and stuff though.

Please don't tell us the cap is on
>>3045933
I-it's not anon, I swear
>>3045920
Did you take off the lens cap?
>>3045939
I'm telling you I'm not this retarded

Double check again
...point it at the sun or a lightbulb just to be sure it's not set to something horribly underexposed? Very unlikely but hey
Take a few pictures and a video and check if the results are also as black, zoom in and out a few times and mess with the iso/aperture and hope for changes

Yep, also did this, configured everything every way and still everything's black.
Something's broken, right?

put it on auto. If works in auto learn how to change the settings in manual

No, shamefully no results
