hey, I have an s3 as well. the answer is not really, the picture quality will be shit either way and the apps that give you the ability to shoot RAW don't even work on this phone due to hardware incompatibility. not even the newest ROMs will help you

eos m is the first camera in line.
autofocus is slow but good enough especially if you use the touch shutter like your phone. it's just not a sports camera.

sony nex, try to find one with 16 megapixels. the newer version of nex are rebranded a3000, a5000, a6000 and so on.

even more cheaper are olympus and panasonic micro four thirds.

as for used, canon eos m are built like a tank. the rest of the brands are plastic.
