Are minilabs a meme? I want to shoot film and get the best out of my negatives but I know from personal experience that flatbed scanners are pretty shit and its what I have. The only alternative i hear of "professional' film shooters using is minilabs but I can't afford to spend 20$ a roll to get scans. I've also heard that in quite a few places techs don't know how to use the scanners and you get shit scans anyway.
Are film specific scanners better? What do you use?

Then don't use a minilab. Their scans serve consumers who want jpegs to upload on Facebook.

Thank you for your insight, would you like to share what you use to scan negatives or would you like to continue being unhelpful?
