Thanks anon he got dumped last month and he has been bummed . I'm trying to get him something good for his birthday . How does this camera compare to a yashica rangefinder ?
>>3016566
yashica one is semiauto, fixed lens. spotmatic is full manual, can swap lenses. also its lens can be even used in the t3i.
Is that your brother? I thought that looked like a trap. He's very convincing. Could you post his phone number or kik?

What one does he have more lenses for?
If canon, get him an eos 30 (elan 7 in usa iirc) it does cool shit like autofocus where you look in the viewfinder. Was crazy expensive in the 90's.
If nikon, f90/f90x/f100, just absolute powerhouses for the amount they cost, again their price is 10% of what it was 20 years ago.
If you want to be really awesome, get him some b&w film and all the kit he would need to develop his own film too, whilst developing colour negatives is only $5, b&w is $20+, but really easy to do at home.

>if you want to be really awesome
Yes, do this please. He could develop film in a bathroom or even a soda can I think.

All you need is a pitch black cupboard/bathroom or a changing bag just to wind your film onto a reel, the rest is done in daylight.

>canon fd
most of it age like milk.
>nikon
everyone wants them so they are stupidly expensive
>olympus
om1 looks nice but stupidly expensive
>contax
muh zeiss
>pentax
the only choice.

Fuck 35mm get him a medium format instead. You can find a decent russian Kiev 60 mf camera for around 150$

>He could develop film in a soda can.
how do u develop film in a soda can anon? even if you can make it light tight, sounds like a recipe for some sticky-ass film lol :-)

Since when is the OM-1 expensive?
There's a tested and working body with a Buy it Now price of $50 right here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Olympus-OM-1n-chrome-body-working-condition-/132086333002?hash=item1ec0f57e4a:g:OV8AAOSw241Ylmfg
And it looks like the average price on Ebay for the Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 is less than $50.
