Fair enough.

Any specific reason why the exposure had to me 2 minutes or use F22? On APS-C you're going to start hitting diffraction around f11-f16, which is why the image appears soft while the depth of focus is wide. It's a very easy mistake to make when you first start taking long exposures.

That's really nice. What made you choose the Olympus em10? I'm just curious, since I own the same thing. It's my first "real" camera and was recommended by my brother in law. I like it a lot, but my wife doesn't. it's taken me quite some time to wrap my head around the menus and options.

oh my this is going to be a long post
It started from the fact that I wanted to have a nice camera to take pictures with on my upcoming Japan vacatoin; I have a nexus 5 and the camera's pretty bad; among other factors

I decided on a budget, and realized that a mirrorless one won't be as good as a DSLR in the same budget, image quality wise (which I still believe). Almost got a D5300

Then a friend of mine lent me his D5100 for a few days to get an idea. I realized after 3 days that I'd never feel like dragging that thing around for taking pictures, at least not as an absolute beginner; something smaller, lighter was needed

Almost got an E-PL7 because that was the only thing within budget that I liked. The A6000 was over, and it also looked...plastic-y, I dunno, didn't attract me. I also saw some anon post some very nice picture from another E-PL5 and they were really pretty and he seemed so excited

Then I found this really nice deal on the om10, literally the last in stock and cheaper than anywhere else, so here I am desu

It has its drawbacks (as I discovered here >>>3014758) but I still think it was the best decision in my situation.

What lens do you have anon? that's my next concern lol

My usual setup is autofocus at S-AF+MF with focus peaking turned on so I can adjust with the focus ring if the autofocus is a little off. Focus peaking is in the "A" menu under MF Assist.

Maybe if you haven't learned to think in motion yet, buddy.
There's more to long exposures than low light and astrophotography. Hell, the concept of panning the camera is reliant on a long exposure, relative to the subject.

Not being able to make good images below 1/focal length is babby's second delusion.

Similar story for me. I was in New York with family and wanted to take the opportunity to shop at B&H for a solid camera. I didn't have a huge budget, and my friend recommended me the Olympus since he has a PEN. The price was right, the build was solid, compact and stylish. The salesman talked up the image stabilization and the new viewfinder. It wasn't a difficult choice for my budget.

Currentlt I only have the 14-42 kit lens and the cheap 40-150 m. Zuiko. I'm planning on a 20mm Panasonic 1.7 for my next purchase, since like you and the other guy said, low-light is really weak on the standard lens.

Hands down my favorite shot of the thread.

I'm gonna have a real real hard time deciding because like 90% of my photography is long exposure. Forces me to invest in my shots more and I like the pace but mainly I think its just because my emotions generally gravitate toward darker themes.
Associating the term "best" with art kinda urks me, but this is my favorite so far in 2017.
